| Hey, is there anyway to take a screenshot from a video? When i try to paste the capture onto PS it only shows the player with a black screen. And pinnacle editor only lets me take from avi files and gives poor quality. Thanks |

If you're using Windows Media Player, go to Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced and uncheck "Use overlays". When that is checked the video card overlays the video directly over what is being displayed by the OS. This means less strain on the main processor and better performance but it also means that the OS (which does the screen capture) is only displaying a black rectangle and has no idea what's actually being overlayed on top of it. So, you basically always get a black rectangle when you do a screen capture. Sometimes, however, you can actually see what's being ovelayed by the graphics card in your PS window but when you move the window, the image stays in one place. That looks kid of weird.
Anyway, other players might also be configurable in this way. The key word is "overlay". Turn them off. |
