|

What size thru-hull scoop should I get? I am going to connect it to a manifold which will supply 3 jabsco pumps.
I'm thinking I'll go with the 1 1/2" but just wondered what everyone else used. Also, if anyone knows the best place to order one, let me know.
I found it at West Marine for $48 which turns into $60 after tax and shipping.
It is also on Ebay for $50.60 + ~$9 shipping.

Thanks for your input! |

I'd use a 1 1/2 myself. I think that it what they use on most of the systems that come OEM from the factory. They sure are expensive though. |

I have that same one for my boat. It is feeding 3 jabsco's as well. I think it is your best bet although you could probably get away with something a little smaller. |

1.5 inches is a good size and is what is fitted stock by Mastercraft. If you are feeding 3 hungry pumps with 0.75inch pipe leading to sacs this will be a perfect size as it is the same area as 4x 0.75inch pipe.
I intend fitting a 4th pump for more ballast up front and will still use the 1.5inch through hull. _________________ Wakeboarding is so Kool in Ireland! |

Now that I've decided on the 1 1/2" thru hull scoop, what should I use to split up the water to three pumps?
Also, will 3/4" hose be sufficient or should I use 1" hose?
I found this manifold for $78, but I think it would be cheaper to make one from PVC pipe and fittings.
The one above has a 1 1/2" inlet and a 1 1/4" outlet and 2 3/4" outlets. |

keep the $78 for gas, beer, new bindings or a new board. _________________ Wakeboarding is so Kool in Ireland! |

Why don't you pump the water out the same way you pump it in? I am planning to use the through hull pump to pump water in and out. The jabsco pumps will not allow water to pass through them when they are off, so I can fill/empty each of them individually. |

Here's how I plan to install my system, please give me comments, suggestions.
The one way valve will prevent air from getting into the system and insure that they empty completely. Also, I can just drill one vent hole for all the sacs. (Or I can use the existing bilge hole) |

I don't know if you're still looking for suggestions but if you are -
If you gave each bag its own above water thru hull near the bag you would know when each bag is full (instead of collecting them and dumping them through the bilge line - which at least on my boat would only be able to drain one or maybe two bags due to the diameter of the hose -.75" i believe) . You could go one further and put a 1 one way valve after each outlet of the manifold and a tee after each one of those. You than could tie the overflow and drain line together - than you could pump out of those thru hulls which will save on drain time. I will try and draw what I mean real quick and post it. _________________ DL |

Just another possible way of doing your system. I am in the process putting in the thru hulls in for my install. The drain and overflow lines can be coupled anywhere between the one way valve on the bag and the one way valve after the manifold. In my install I've got all the one way valves and what not all right near the pump but right off the manifold would work as well or even somewhere in the middle. I can't seem to get a few images to post. Can anyone help me out here? |
