I can go w2w heelside very well but my TS is weak. I can clear the wake but I always land on my heels with one hand on the handle off balance. That and I only get like one foot of air.

The only thing that I can think of is that im not doing a progressive edge like my HS because I start really far out and gun it in but I am not accelerating off the wake. BUt what makes me land on my heels all the time?

Any advice? I dont have a video right now, might get one in a few weeks though.

Thanks in advance

ah, yes, the infamous ts troubles...i think we all have had them and still, to an extent, do.......i must admit, my ts is pretty weak also, and i have a habit of landing with one hand also (mainly bacuase of bad experience catching my edge). But once you get the hang of them, you realize that they pop you up pretty high, and plus, you neeed to know how to do them....so heres some pointers.

1) You dont really have to take as hard of a cut into the wake as you do on your HS w2w's because of the amount of pop you get off your toes (you are all off balance because you're cutting tooo hard)

2) practice jumping into the middle of the wake, then gradually go further

3) bend your knees a tiny bit more, and make sure you're doing a little bit of popping off the wake

4) another thing to practice is wake ollie re-entries off your ts AND hs edges

5) COMMITTEMENT!!!

good luck, i hope my damn essay helps.....

umm if you were landing on your heels, and you were cutting hard, would one not think that you would do a backwards facreplant??

okay here's the problem. you are letting off your edge when you hit the wake. since its the begginingof the season id really recomend that you work on proper edge position and handle position. just edge out into the flats on your heels keep the handle in right at your waist and really focus on digging in a solid edge. do the same toeside keep the handle right at your back pocket, dig in your toes, push out your back foot turn your shoulders away from the boat, and lean against the rope. repeat for switch. this should help immensely for the upcoming season. it will build proper muscle memory so yo dont develop any bad habits and make learning new tricks easier this summer. i worked on this today, my first ride of the season, and man i could feel all my muscles burning despite being in pretty good shape and already having proper edging techniques. try watching some videos and having a rope set up and copying the edging techniques of the pros. but for toeside just keep the handle right at your back pocket, dig in your toes, push out your back foot turn your shoulders away from the boat, and lean against the rope and dont back off your edge at the wake like you do now and youll be fine.

The Headless Chicken, thanks. I must be letting off my edge because when I tried my TS 180s I was going OA and landing on my butt. Ill try to focus on edging through the wake.

smlparksguy133, didn't read everything, so if I'm repeating things already mentioned... my bad.

Generally you land in the same position you came off the wake, so if you're landing on your heels, you're letting off before you release off the wake.

Really concentrate on holding your position coming into and releasing off the top of the wake. Practice at first landing in between the wakes and when you land make sure you're edging out and across the other wake. Then try taking it wake to wake and keep edging out again as you land.

Sorry to Hijack your thread but I too am having similar troubles with my TS Edge. I know you arent meant to have your knees too bent but what would happen if I edged with completely straight legs? Would I get a lot of pop or not?

Jetpilot05, yes, you want to lave your knees locked or very close to it, at the top of the wake.

Make sure you lean against the rope and not towards the wake.

Sweet that *should* be my TS problems sorted then. I have a good progressive edge and I manage to keep line tension but I fail to get good pop because of stance. Next time out I shall try some straight-legged edging and see how that works.

Jetpilot05, no no no! Edge with your legs halfway bent, then straighten them at the top of the wake.

lol okay my bad. I think/know my 2 main issues are my leg position and that I was leaning into the wake instead of puling on the rope.
