Ambush Boarding Co. and Buywake.com Announce Their Summer 2005 Wakeboard Schedule of Events

Kennesaw, GA – Ambush Boarding Co. and Buywake.com, the World’s most complete and progressive wakeboard retailers, reveal their summer 2005 wakeboard plans. Following up their last summer’s successful grassroots wakeboarding tour (The Ambush/Buywake.com B.Y.O.B. Wakeboard Series) and one of the most exciting pro slider events to date (The Ambush/Buywake.com Slider Slam), Ambush and Buywake.com announce a summer of distinctive events.

Ambush and Buywake.com will kick off the summer with the Ambush/Buywake.com Wake Mixer, an event aimed at promoting the Atlanta wakeboard community and spurring participation in the sport. Also included in the Ambush/Buywake.com summer calendar is a traditional, B.Y.O.B-esque style tournament and an “all inverts barred” contest where the only rule is that you absolutely cannot throw an invert. Pre-registration for the events will ensure your spot in the contest. The official tow boat this year is a fully tricked out 2005 Nautique Team 226.

“Last summer we got too involved with the competition aspect of wakeboarding”, reflects Ambush Boarding Co. General Manager, Lee Elliott.
“This summer we would rather encourage what wakeboarding is actually about…and that is hanging out with fellow wakeboarders and always trying something new.”

“This season we really wanted to do something completely different”, remarks Ambush Boarding Co. and Buywake.com owner, Chuck Morrow.
“Just about every wakeboarding entity out there throws a summer contest, but we wanted to do something really unique. Our goal is to promote wakeboarding…and with events such as the Mixer (The Ambush/Buywake.com Wake Mix) and the no invert contest, I think we can achieve that. I want to push the riders to think outside their respective wakeboarding boxes and keep them in touch with the wakeboarding community at the same time”.

Last summer’s Ambush/Buywake.com B.Y.O.B. Wakeboard Series collectively drew nearly 700 competitors from around the Southeast and Midwest.

The Ambush drive-in will host the east coast premier of “Encore” the newest video from Liquid Force Films. Encore is the sequel to the 2004 Sundance Film Festival entry “Relentless”. Justin Stephens, the maker of Asterisk, Boombox, Metronome and many other top wakeboarding movies, is the creative mind behind Encore.

The premise of this event is to grow the Atlanta wakeboard community by bringing riders of all age groups and skill levels together for an all day wakeboarding session and an all night party. The event will host 20 boats, each of which will be filled with 4 riders and a driver. Participants will randomly draw a number that indicates which boat they will ride behind. The boat will then depart with the riders and each participant will enjoy a few hours of wakeboarding with potentially total strangers. The boats will come back in once each wakeboarder has had a chance to ride and the participants will draw another number and go out and ride again. An after party will follow at dusk. Masters of Wakeboarding

Don’t miss the only opportunity to watch the professional wakeboarders compete in Georgia. The list includes Ambush team riders Shawn Watson and Erik Ruck. Ambush/Buywake.com - Hyperlite “Generic” Contest
June 25th-36th, 2005 Lake Arrowhead Waleska, GA

Capacity: 150 riders
This event will be the sole traditional style contest of the season. The event will be similar to the Ambush/Buywake.com B.Y.O.B Wakeboard Series where competition is broken down by divisions and subjectively judged based on style, technical skill, and amplitude.

Ambush/Buywake.com - Hyperlite “All Inverts Barred” Contest
July 23rd-24th, 2005 Lake Arrowhead – Waleska, GA
Pre-Registration TBA
Capacity: 150 riders
The All Inverts Barred Contest is a “no-invert” event where riders are forced to broaden their wakeboard horizons by staying upright and are rewarded for jumping toeside, grabbing, spinning, and throwing anything that does not include doing one of those flippy things. Competition will be broken down into divisions and subjectively judged based on technical skill, style, and amplitude.

Ambush/Buywake.com – Alliance Magazine Underground Wakeksate Contest

This will be our first ever wakeskate only event. The location will be kept secret until the day of the event. All skaters will meet at Ambush for check in on the day of the contest. This event is for intermediate and advanced riders only. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 of each division.
