|
|
| Could someone tell me if they have ridden behind an x2 with mastercraft's cruise control? I was told it works the same as the perfect pass without all the bells and whistles for about 1000 less. I'm buying a 2005 X2 on Tuesday and they have a boat with and one without about 1000 difference in price.... Please help if you can..

udontbootme,
The new MasterCraft "perfect pass" is pretty sweet. It is basically the same thing as the regular Perfect Pass. The reason mastercraft has it is because they use fly by wire which is a digital signal sent to the engine that allows the engine to hold speed digital. I have driven both and i would say they are both great. Personally I just like the look of Perfect Pass and I trust it more because it has been out longer, but don't get me wrong the MasterCraft system works real well. Hope that helps

| If you are buying a 2005 X-2, what's another $1000. I would go ahead and get perfect pass. You can really dial the speed in. The way cruise works is like a car. You get the boat going the speed you want then hold the switch and the cruise takes over. With the perfect pass, you can set the speed to the 10ths of a mph. You can also set the perfect pass for the amount of weight you have in the boat plus has fast it measures the speed. If you wakeboard, you need to go with the perfect pass.

when its your boat and you want people to pull the worst thing is when people speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down,
well you get my point, its so easy you just explain how it works and when you want to go faster they ress the mph up .2 or .3 mphs up... its that simple. well worht the 1k!

| Well, thanks for everyone's comments. Actually, 1000 dollars is a 1000 dollars. If the cruise works fine, then I can use that money for some Defcon V's !!! That way, if the cruise control messes up, I can still jam while I'm MF' ing the Mastercraft salesman....LOL

udontbootme, If you financing, you will notice very little difference in your monthly payment with the extra $1000. I favor pp because i use the boat mainly for wakeboarding. The pp has other settings that come in handy v.s. simple cruise.
Either way, congrats with the new X-2. Very sweet boat.

I just bought an X-2 and I went with MC's Cruise control. When we demoed the boat back in October we used the throttle by wire cruise control and it worked perfect. We didn't have a bunch of weight in it though, just stock ballast and 5 people. I guess we'll see how it handles with more weight this spring.
The way I looked at it udontbootme, all the boat companies will be following MC with the throttle by wire over the next few years and PP is going to become obsolete.

Are the features of MC cruise control really the same as how CC works in a car? get up to speed and set it?
i've go PP wakeboardpro, and am completely satisfied with it - not a single complaint.

yeah. very simiple system. I perfer the PP. That way you know the speed you will be going before the boat takes off.

PP is the way to go then. MC Cruise Control seems like it would rely too much on the driver to first set the perfect speed, whereas with PP, as long as your driver can keep the boat going in a straight line, you can set your speed and when the speed is met, it's then controlled.

You set the speed that you want before hand in the MC version.
It's not like the cruise control of a car at all. It's just like PP but you don't have the other 50 useless things that come with it.

| There are some differences for sure. Perfect Pass has a ton of functions that the average person will never use though. The MC version is very basic it holds the speed and maybe does a couple of other things as well. I'm never going to use all the different things that PP has, it's a great product, however if all you want is something to hold your speed then the MC version should be fine.

True. All I use my Perfect Pass for is 21.8 mph. If MC cruise control will do that, it would work fine.

| As far as mastercraft selling the perfect pass, my dealership told me that they didn't realize that the 05's had this cruise control as standard equipment, and that they ordered the perfect pass by habit and actually said that most of their early 05's had both. They simply put a cover over the factory cruise and went with the perfect pass. The factory cruise has a digital readout and settings just like the perfect pass. It's located on the speedo on the right side. If you didnt know what to look for, you'd probably just overlook it. Like everyone is saying, it just doesn't have the bells and whistles. I know my weak ass couldn't tell the difference between 21.8 and 22.2 ? You know.....

You can also change the speed while you're moving, if you want.

| i demo'd an 06 MC X30 and they have a shitty standard cruise control that doesnt work anywhere near as well as perfect pass. I doubt it was meant for riding because the speed fluctuated about 5mph in either direction and it was kind of a pain to set... perfect pass is 100% better for towing skiers/boarders.

I guess you're not bright enough to set the speed Jason. Worked fine when I used it.

| I'm going to bail out .... Thanks for everyone's input. I've come to the conclusion that since i'm paying alot for my boat, i might as well donate an additional "G", so I can bust my ass traveling at 22.2 MPH....LOL Just kidding, thanks again everyone, and by the way, I didn't know they had any 06's out yet...... I'd better not start up another chapter by asking when the 06 X2's would surface....LOL Again.

udontbootme, can you not demo the boat? Why don't you just demo and see if it works for you. The MC version Allows you to toggle within .2 mph or 20 RPM's. You don't have to touch the throttle.
When you're paying 50 grand for a boat, I should hope you take it out before you buy one...

| I was just being a smart ass Bamb...... I have ridden behind one several times, I was just reluctant because I've actually never heard much about the factory cruise. I'm just used to hearing "perfect pass", you know..... I'm actually only paying 48. I just wanted to use the extra thousand for stereo equipment. See my other new topic if you know anything about defcon v's. I just wanted to hear someone other than the dealership say, yeah it works fine.

| Nevermind Bamb. I feel like we are arguing. My only point is that I've been waiting for my old Supra to sell before I could buy the x2. Now that i'm ready, I went down last week to choose my color, and i noticed a red and black one that i wanted and said, "hey, it doesn't have perfect pass". that led to the discussion about factory cruise control with the dealer. I only wanted someone else's opinion about it. I'm not a good enough boarder to noticed the tenths on mph. I also wanted to use the money for speakers. Hell, i was just bored I guess and wanted someone else's input. I never intended on arguing with someone and defending myself as to whether I've test drove one. I don't really care, if i dont like it after I buy it, i will put in perfect pass. Ive been told its really easy on 05's due to the wireless throttle. one 875 actually rather than 1000. Now, cut me some slack. The reason I want an x2 is " IVE RIDDEN BEHIND ONE SEVERAL TIMES", and they throw a way bigger and steeper wake than my old 01 launch. Plus I get to get rid of that damned engine in the middle. Im 6'4'' 235 , and hard to dodge that big ass engine. No hard feelings dude. Thanks for your input.

I didn't think we were arguing? If you don't like it then you can put the perfect pass on afterwards you said. I just thought it might me easier to figure that out before hand is all. That way your boat doesn't have to go back into the shop for a couple of days. If you haven't sold your boat, then they can get all the work done before you pick her up and you should have a worry free summer.
I pick my boat up in 6 more sleeps, can't wait. I ordered the boat back in October so I've been waiting a freaken long time! When I heard about the MC version and throttle by wire though I wanted to try it out first. We went out in it at the end of October near Edmonton Alberta, water temp was around 40, air was 34-36F and there was a foot of snow on the ground. We absolutely froze, I'm glad I did it though because now once I pick the boat up I don't have to make another trip back to add anything I want.
Have fun with the new boat, you said red and black right? Those are my colours! I went with the protour red middle and black bottom. Looks good in the picture but I haven't seen the boat in person. You'll have to post a pic of the boat when you get her home.

Here it is at the dealership. They will have it made ready for delivery on tuesday AM. Can't wait. I saw the boat under the white shrink wrap when they just got it. I originally wanted a yellow or orange, but this one looked unique and I liked the way it matched my truck. I'll post more pics when I take delivery.

That's a great looking boat!!
I like the thin red stripe down the middle as well!. Is that the pro tour red?
I debated going with the solid colour in the interior as well. I ended up going white because I've got kids and they're pretty hard on the interior of the boat. Maybe I'm just too lazy, didn't want to deal with the stratches that might happen inside as well.
Looks great!

| It hadn't been made ready in the pic. It has a teak platform and yes its pro tour red. It's different. You dont see that combo everyday. I see yellow everywhere. I like the yellow probably better, but i wanted to be different.

| By the way, does anybody know where to get any billet pieces for the interior? Cupholders, step, etc? Hey Bam, that is tight too. I am having them take out the spider web sticker part of the graphics on mine so you'll be able to see the actual hull color through the sticker. Do you like the orange' ish color in your graphics?

I haven't seen it in person yet so I'm not sure. The boat I demoed had the protour red stripe like mine and it blended in pretty good I thought. Probably leave for now.. Your's is more against the black so it probably stands out more.
I saw a billit piece on ebay for the step a while back. Someone posted it on this website as well. Try doing a search, you should be able to find it.
