When you are going to go to the lake for just a short time after work, how windy would it have to be for you to decide to not go?

Here in the mountains of Utah that depends on the lake. Utah Lake, which is in the valley, can be horrible in a light breeze, yet I've been on mountain lakes in 20+ mph winds and still been able to find a good cove to ride in.

In our case it is more a problem of wind direction. We ride on a river with lots of cliffs along either side so you can almost always find flat water somehwere even when it is really blowing. Ther does seem to be one direction that stuffs everything

If you ride on a lake surrounded by trees or high cliffs, there's usually some flat water close to shore. Ride the docks!

I live in Kansass. The lakes around here are flat with no wind breaks. The coves are usually to shallow to get a boat close enough to shore to ride in decent water. It is so F*&^ing windy here, and even when the wind is light(say 10mph) the water still sucks. So don't let me hear any complaining about rough water.

There's a lake about 2 hours north of me that (in the morning) is glass. Literally, not iven the tiniest ripple on the shore. But, it almost always gets windy after 4-5 in the afternoon. Just the way teh valley is shaped i guess. It's cold...but you couldn't really beat it for smoothness if you ride before noon.

Psudy,

Where do you ride. We can always find butter somewhere. You just have to find somewhere with south wind protection. We can usually find get water out here in Manhattan, where a good wind day is around 15mph. But there are a lot of good lakes around the state.

We live in austin and went to go demo a boat yesterday, we didnt get a chance to board, but it was really rough. It was white cappin' everywhere! I thought it was a little too windy to be able to board and have fun. We demoed the 2003 Mobius LSV and it handled great in rough water.

I have gone in 3 foot waves, I dont care how wavy it is outside, as long as the boat can go through the waves, or better yet, ill grab a buddy with the seadoo. Id rather be out in 10 foot waves on a seadoo ripping it up than sitting inside staring at the lake...I like it when its wavy, if you time the waves right you can get easy double ups all the time. Ive went in circles a bunch of times on a wavy day...just made some insane chop and went through it with a cut...shot myself into the air like 10 feet, and I got scared and let go of the rope...just landed on my face...was awesome fun, be nice if I had more control to land some stuff like that. But ya man...its never too wavy for me.

sometimes it can be fun in chop like Mariognarly said. sometimes you can get booted so high. I would still rather ride in glass though
