I'm sorry. I'm not usually a spelling/grammar freak, but this post deserves a direct forward to Maddox. Here is the translation of that post into English for the rest of us...
Have you tried popping yourself off the wake, and do you have a wake tower? The rope really does make a difference, because of the amount of stretch. You don't want any stretch.
Ok next point: How is your progressive edge? You should keep the line loaded right up to the actual point of liftoff. Are you standing tall at the lip of the wake? |

Make sure that when you hit the wake that you don't let your knees absorb any of the energy that you created while edging towards the wake.

| I am also having trouble going w2w on my boat - I have a tower and a decent rope but my I/O has a totally wide wake and I land right on top of the wake. I can go w2w on friends v-drives but not on mine. I have tried making the rope shorter, but it is still wide at that point...any ideas? |

If you can go w2w on friend's V-drives at a decent length I'd keep shortening the rope until you can clear the wake on the i/o. Try adding weight to the bow of the boat if you have a soft, washy wake. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

yea , i have an I/O and the wake is super wide , so this summer were investing in a tower and some fat sacks to hopefully give me the lift i need for w2w's. get a non-stretch rope for maximum line tension also. _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

| RufioSwashbuckle, so how short are you planning to go on the rope? We did the same (got a tower and some sacs) and they help a lot...still trying to figure out how to get that last foot or so of distance to clear w/out landing right on top of the wake. |

NO POP = NO PROGRESSIVE EDGE!
It's that simple. Yes equipment plays a small factor but I could take a ski rope a Ranger bass boat, drive at 30 MPH and still get pop off the wake.
It's almost always a technique issue not an equipment issue. _________________ PEACE

| J_DOGG, I agree and having been working a lot on progressive edge...just trying to figure out how to learn to get more distance to cross a wider wake on my I/O than on a really nice V-drive...but hoping to do it this summer! |

| fergie23, try starting from further outside the wake. This will get you more speed when you hit the wake. |

Apparently standing a little taller during your edge...i.e. not squatting too much, will lead to more distance rather than height. This means when you "stand tall" you won't have to straighten up much. So I guess I am saying, find that happy medium where you get the height you need and the distance you desire.

fergie23, yes, you need more lateral speed to clear a wide wake... start further out and edge harder as you get closer to the wake.
Some times the wake is just too wide and you need to shorten the rope!
I had an old boat like this, NO ONE could ride anything longer than a 65 foot rope and we have a good crew. To put it in perspective I ride at 75 to 80 feet behind my current boat. _________________ PEACE

what i would do is try going a little faster and then standing tall off the wake _________________ Is What Your Living for Worth Dying for
