|
|
For those who have been waiting for the "Raul" (I know he has left the company) 8inch cans at Precision Metal Works to come back in stock I have some bad news.
They have raised the price to $85 per can plus shipping.
I asked them to honor the $60 price since I waited for them to come back into stock for the past month and they never mentioned the price increase - but no go. Said the price increase was due to the price of aluminum. $25 per can?? Kicking myself for not getting a pair when they were $40.
Anyway - If anyone has a set of cans they have decided not to use I will buy them for the $60 price. $85 per can is too rich for DIY cans in my opinion. Just email me at dba4life@aol.com

You know, it's kinda interesting that you posted this now. I decided to contact Precision Metal Works and get pricing on some 8" cans and clamps for my boat. Here's how it went.
1 - Emailed them and got a price of $65 + shipping per can with 2.5" clamps. Per the email I received, the items were in stock and ready to ship. They also provided a contact phone number to place my order through.
2 - I waited a couple days and then phoned them to place my order. First, I couldn't seem to get a hold of anyone there that had a clue about the speaker cans. Then when I did get a hold of someone, they informed me that they had 'no' polished cans in stock, just raw aluminum cans, which were going to cost me $65 a can. When I questioned the emailed price I got for the polished cans, the person simply himmed and hawwed around and came back to the $65 a can figure for the raw cans. They also offered to powdercoat the cans for me for a fairly significant bump in pricing. I decided against placing an order.
I must say, from all the feedback on this board (and elsewhere) I've read about these cans, I certainly expected to have a better experience trying to buy a couple pair. |

Big Deal - I guess I expected a bit more as well. I was dealing with a Rio via email. He knows about the cans. I just wish when I told them I would wait a month for their cans to come back in stock he could have told me they were going to cost $50 more a pair.
Oshensurfer - It is my understanding that Raul does not work there anymore. |

It is still a ridiculously good deal. The cost of aluminum has nearly doubled. Try to find clamps alone for less than 125/pr. 170$ for polished cans and clamps, can't be beat. If you don't like his prices, buy from the competition. Boss sells an identical can/clamp setup, see what they want for a pair of empty cans. _________________ Silver Skurfer |

i'm agreeing that this is still a good deal. I have thought about buying a second set. I was impressed at the quality of these cans and mounts when I bought my first pair. It does suck that they cost more now, but in comparison with the competition, they are worth it. A pair of these and some 6.5's from ebay.....just can't beat it for the price. Made my DIY tower a notch nicer and some pvc cans with U bolt mounts would have taken it a notch lower. _________________ Drive it like you stole it. |

Who has the latest contact info for Precision Metal Works? I know Raul's contact info was on here a while back but it sounds like he isn't there anymore.
Any help is appreciated!! |
