I'm thinking about getting into wakeskating becuase it looks fun as hell..
but which would be better.. Foam grip or griptape?
and second... would old skate shoes be good enough?
and board suggestions would be cool too |

abovethewake, this is yet another preference question. If you come from a skateboarding background you'll most likely want grip tape for the familier feeling. Personally i'd suggest griptape, but it's know to be an enemy on bails. If you can i'd try and demo both to get an idea of how each feels. Good luck. _________________ I wish my grass was emo; then it would cut itself |

abovethewake, Grip or foam is personal preference. As for the skate, do yourself a favor and stay away from wakeskates that are made by wakeboard companies. If you want a wakeskate that is made by people that actually care about the way their skates ride (cassette, integrity, kampus) instead of how much money they can suck out of our industry (hyperlite, Jstar, obrien, LF), go for a skate from a rider-owned company.
Cassette, Integrity, and Kampus wakeskates are your best choices.
www.cassettewakeskates.com - I recommend the new 4-Trac 41", very stable ride and great pop
www.integrity-wake.com - The new Lemons skate has incredible pop and is VERY durable
www.kampuswakesk8.com - The K39 is the simplest deck on the market and is easy to progress on
Where in Sarasota are you at? I live on Anna Maria Island, it's the one above Longboat Key. _________________ ...island style... |

| i come from a skate backround and went with foam because it is easier on falls and so people without shoes can ride it more comfortably. as for the shoes i took an old pair of vans and drilled about 10 holes in the bottom of each with a drill press, it works like a dream. |

Jama, Seriously? My next door neighbor owns that restaurant and a few others. I ate there a few nights ago. I always take my g/f there because I eat for free there (My dad does the fireworks shows for 4th of July and New Years there every year, so we eat free at his restaurants) That's cool that you've been here though... If there's a next time, hit me up with a PM and we'll go rip. _________________ ...island style... |
