My freind has a sanger. It is a V-drive but I don't think it's a 97 although I could be wrong. It throws out a really nice wake. He weights it down a lot but it is very nice. So far he hasn't had any problems with it.

The wake can get gnarly, intimidating for some riders. We own a 98 and its the best wake I have ridden, and I have ridden many brand boats. The hull responds well to weight. Here is a pic from last weekend, this is with 1,300 in the bow and 400 rear. The wake was real rampy and solid, When you load it up with another 1,000 in the middle and rear it gets to the "gnarly" stage. Sangers are extremely underrated.

| chris, they do sit very low in the water, but so does anything that you weight the piss out of! You should look into a Sanger V-230.....new bigger design that does'nt sit so low in the water, with a very similar wake....

kyle - unfortunately i prolly wouldnt be able to purchase a brand new boat. they do look like nice boats though...as for sitting in the water. i wont be filling up sacs until we get to our spot. we get some nasty-@ss waves rollin across our lake. if the wind is from the north, its bad...thats y i want to get a nauti or MC with some height to it. that way when were backing out of the hoist, it wont get swamped by the waves.

The Ski Sanger v-drive is a "V-210".........same boat. They have been doing that same hull for years now.

I'd have to say out of the box, a VLX....
When you weigh a Sanger right, it gets scary! The day that the pic. I threw up was taken, the wake kicked my @$$ more than once! It was almost too big to have fun.

My experience with VLX's- They need a lot of weight. My friends has been loaded with 10 people, no ballast and the wake was mediocre. And at Calero we took a VLX riding/wakesurfing and it had MLS filled and 7 people, wake still wasn't that great. Dont get me wrong, Ive seen some impressive wakes from VLX's, you just have to load the piss oout of them. I am actually going to ride behind one tomorrow.

I agree Evan, But right out of the box with stock weight the VLX has a better shape to it. But, once you weigh the two....Sanger hands down!

Kyle,
I know what you were saying, I agree to an extent, I didnt mean to sound contradicting. I just dont think people understand how underrated Sangers are.
Sanger is FINALLY offering a 3 tank ballast system i think it is 900#, much better than the total of 400# you could get before.
By the way have you ridden behind a V-230?

If I'm not mistaken, the v210 has a 90" beam and is 20'8" long. 90" beam isn't that small compared the other guys, a Nauti 210 has a 91" beam. But, for the most part, the less beam, the easier it is to sink the boat with ballast=bigger (not always better) wake. If you want a big wide v-drive, peep the Calabria Pro-V, I think it's 102" beam....Those Sangers do look nice fellas

Scooter,
The interior is actually laid out really well for a boat of its size. Roomier than an X-star(02') for sure, and comparable to a 03' SAN. But the Sanger has tons more storage than both. I would say that storage/interior room is more like a VLX, and the VLX is a bigger boat. The only downside to the interior is that the floor is not very deep, meaning from the seat (where your butt is) to the floor(where your feet are) is no as deep as a SAN, X-star, or VLX. Becuase of Sangers lower freeboard. My parents are 6'2" and 5'10" and my friends are 5'11" and 6'2" and I am 6'7" so we are a pretty big group of people, that could be why the interior looked small, we are not cramped at all. with our jumpseat we can sit 10 "large" people with relative ease.
Our boat is a 98', which has the older interior, (older dash, and carpeted corners with cupholders) If you are not fimiliar with the change in interiors I can find some pics. The best thing about the Sanger interior for my dad and I is the cockpit. It has a crapload of leg room, my dad actually brings the seat forward when he drives. I drive with it all the way back but I can fully strech out my legs onto the footrest, and the footrest is about 2ft infront of the wall underneath the Dash.
The new V-230 is riding on the Same hull (i believe) as the V-210 but is 22'7" long and has a 100" beam.
Ill try to get some better interior shots.

Its about time someone starts posting about sangers... check out the 230 0n my profile... The 230 has the same bottom as the 210 why change a hull that handles rough water so well, Im hopeing they make a 210 v drive like a mini 230 same style and interior, I think it would be a hit. we weighted the 230 down to the max and it kept up with us with no problems.

Evan,
I've been considering upgrading my '97 MC DDrive to a VDrive. I'm considering going with the XStar (I'm happy with my MC Dealer), or saving approx $10k and going with the Sanger. The thing is...I don't think they offer 900 lbs ballast option for the v210. From the dealers I've spoken with, they still only offer the belly ballast, but some of the individual dealers will plumb in add'l ballast for you. Let me know if you've heard otherwise. If I was to consider Sanger, I was looking to probably have rear hard tanks plumbed in, (250-350 lbs each) then put some of my lead in the bow. Am I wrong?

Tommy,
I remmeber hearing that, not sure where. But I remember hearing that they finally offering a 3-piece system, I remember hearing iit and thinking to myslef, "finally". On the website as an option for the V-210 is the Wake Series Package 2, which says that you can get front and rear ballast.
http://www.sangerboats.com/boats_v210_features.htm
I would call the dealers again, and call Sanger to check. Even if I have been mistaken, I would recommend getting the Sanger and adding ballast yourself. You wont be dissapointed with a V-210.

Evan,
the 3 bag system is only available on the Dlx, the site's kinda confusing. In talking to a few dealers, some of them will put a t-coupler install and plumb in add'l bags.
Here's my other question, why so much weight up front in yours? My thought was to plumb in 500-600lbs in the bag, with 400 already in the belly. Would that stay clean, or are they better weighted up front. I was thinking maybe 200 add'l pounds of lead in the bow. What do you think?

sorry, meant 500-600lbs in the back, hopefull hard tanks, considering the following to still allow for storage in back, as opposed to soft bags...
