I constantly have to play with my speed - is there a way to help keep it even? i have a 17' baja with a 115 outboard.

graphicideas1,

Is this a mechanical issue - i.e. your throttle actually moves when you're not holding it at a constant speed - they make a clamp for this that adds friction to the cable.

If it's a driving thing, well....you'll need to accelerate in the corners...talk to your crew, what do they want?

Wes

I too have a baja, and I had the same issue. Here is what I did and it worked well. 1st get a lower pitched 4 blade prop, next weight the bow with 500 lbs.

graphicideas1, I have a I/O and our boat use to do that but we switched props (HI 5 Stainless) and put about 800lbs in it and it is good now. Smile

High 5 is a 5 blade propeller made by mercruiser. If you drop the pitch it will help you keep consistant speed.

where did you put the weight?

I put 2 sand bags on each side of the motor. 4 sand bag in the bow under the seats. and 2 sand bags on each side under the seats.

And a 550lbs Fat Sac in the middle of the boat.
