| If my bass ski boat doesnt create a wake, and I am a beginner, would it still be fun to wakeboard? |

| Yeah wakeboarding can still be fun, but only to a certain level. Once you get better you won't be able to do wake jumps or anything if it doesn't have a wake. I suggest trying wakeskating, because boats like that are really good for wakeskating. |

engine22, you can have fun for a long time on a boat with little to no wake. With no wake you can work on your different types of 180s, 360s. You can even land a backroll or a tantrum with no wake. Switch riding will be beneficial because you will be limited. You could ride behind a boat with no wake for 2-3 years without running out of things to learn and come out with a super solid basis to start landing big tricks behind a big wake. Or you can get a wakeskate and you have a whole new challenge. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| Yea wakeskating is great because you can have any kind of wake and never run out of stuff to do. Even pros are still trying new ollie and lipslide based tricks. Sure you cant go huge behind one but make do with what you got. If its that bad, find a pull from someone with an inboard. |

I thought every boat has a wake, even a small one...
you can have fun anyway!

| i ride behind a waverunner, and still have enough wake to have fun. if nothing else its good to learn the basics behind. then you can move up when you get comfortable.my first time behind a real wakeboard boat was insane, the wake was huge compared to the waverunners, a totally different experience. |

Can't you just get air in the same way that people get air at cable parks? _________________ xXx-Caitlin-xXx |

It is a great way to learn to ollie and ride switch. Throw a little weight in the boat and you can come off with a bigger wake... _________________ pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever |

Caitlin, no. I don't really know much about cable parks because I've never been to one, but jumping at a cable park has to do with the height of the tow point and I believe the slack in the cable. It is possible to do line-tension based tricks behind a boat, but they are fairly difficult and not something I could imagine anyone doing without progressing through their wake tricks first.
Nonetheless, having fun is an attitude; it's not a piece of equipment. _________________ Get Frugally Green!

go get a 100$ ballast bag that'll hold 500lbs. your wake should be more than enough or just tote friends along! _________________ wetsuits arent warm enough |

| Caitlin, most good air at cable parks come from the corners and kickers, but I don't know much about them either. I have never been to one just watched videos from them |

I tried behind my dads bass boat this summer to give my brother a try at wakeboarding, i found it near impossible to get air because there was literally only a 8-10" wake. And there is no ski pylon, so the rope was tied off low. I was riding a Parks '04 138....i still had fun just doing slides and screwing around with boat going slow tho.
If you have a larger engine and can put the weight in- get some bags, and get a pylon to raise the rope height for some more lift off wake. At minimum I think this could do alot for getting you some height off the wake. Bags are not too much $, if you cannot afford a new pylon try in classifieds here or at ebay. Worst case get a local metal worker you know build you a pylon... buy the front straps from the pylon mnfr.(they sell replacement straps/parts). I have seen some good home-made pylons and racks. Just make sure the person working the metal knows what they're doing. _________________ The horror...... the horror. |

I rode (and landed my first 180s) in Greece (Godbless ClubMed watersports holidays) behind a boat with a 13cm wake - It is very possible to get some air and get your basics down tight before coming home to your X-Star and going huge. _________________

I am new at the sport and all, but when I first got out on the water, I would rather have had no wake. It was a challenge enough to edge fom toeside to heelside, but I did not even bother going outside of the wake. Well, I tried once and I ended up getting a head-ache. Besides, there are tricks like other people have said that you can do with little to now wake. _________________ Rip it up |
