Northern VA for now, been riding on the Potomac and Occoquan for the last couple of years, but looking to move up to your neck of the woods joedirt00, by the summer time. Glad to hear there is some riding up that way.

(Newb, but a couple of years of lurking.)

ar230border, I ride alot right in front of the Monuments in the Potomac (between 14th St and Memorial Bridges) on weekdays. Weekends I end up down in Matawon (sp?) creek off the Occoquan River.

Well lets just say I try not to drink the water, but it's not too bad. Plenty of people out there and I've been water skiing in the potomac for years with no sideffects.

I've been riding mostly in the potomac in matawoman (i think thats it) for about 3 years now... Its kinda dirty but not too bad. The worst is when you fall into a bunch of floating weeds. Never fun to have to untangle yourself. Wont be riding there too much anymore since we're building a house on lake anna, but i'll always remember the days on the good old potomac with the snake head fish

Hey any of you still riding in occoquan or potomac?
I'm working in quantico then go home to arlington in the afternoon, so I could and would do either.

It seems like potomac by the airport gets somewhat oceanic in the afternoon, but I'm not afraid to try it.

I have no boat, only wakeboard and vest; gas money and beer to offer.
Let me know if any other cool dudes here could use another riding partner.

wakingcrow, check out DCWake.com for riders in the area. There's a couple crews out on the Potomac around DC, a guy on Lake Jackson in Manassas, and a bunch of people down at Lake Anna. I ride on the upper Potomac out by Hagerstown where the water is actually clean.

Thanks man. I used to ride out in that area last century, water is def nicer. I wouldn't mind heading out there on the weekend again sometime if you have an opening... meantime I'll check out that dc site, sounds good.

I used to ride up there by dam 5, those were the good ole days when my dad had a river house complete with boat. We had a lot of good times, including jumping off that 50ft rock near the boat ramp. Very Happy

oh man, I did that 50 footer in the dark once, real bad idea. I usually go out on dam 4, river bend keeps 5 real busy, and you have to drop the tower to get to the public ramp on 5.
