Ok so i made my current avater in photoshop by making a 80 by 80 square w/ a transparent background and made a bunch of new layers as follows..... N NU NUM NUMB....... ect. so that when i animated it (went to save for web, selected animate) it spelled out NUMBFOOT. Instead of a transparent background i want to make a gradiant. So i make a gradiant and try putting text over it. The problem is, when you add text it makes it into it's own layer. So instead of it spelling out NUMBFOOT w/ a gradiant in the bg it shows the gradiant then jumps to N w/ a white bg. So even if you make like new gradiant layers it won't do anything because it will just put your text in new layers. So i guess my question is... is there a way to make 8 layers (nine including bg) that have a gradiant and text on them or is it impossible? I know there has to b some way........... any help appreciated.

Question

select the layer of the letter that you want and make it the only visible layer. Create your background layer with the gradient, then go to "Layer" "Merge Visible." This should combine the layers into one. Then make that layer invisible and select another letter. Repeat the steps with all the letters, making sure that you make all other layers invisible except the one you are working on. Does that make sense?

ok so here it is. i had to reduce it to 64 colors to get the size down... but i guess it looks ok. it's not as clean looking as my older one.......... which do u like better????i mean on this one the letters kind of get bolder and bolder because everything isn't aligned perfectly..... although, on my other one that wouldn't have mattered because it would have only showed one layer at a time. the way i did it it kind of has all the layers pile up on eachother..... that's the only way i could get it to wok though............ any input anyone???????????? Question
