| .zip files are compressed to make smaller downloads. You can get a free 'trial' copy of winzip to uncompress the file at winzip.com |

If you have XP I believe that you do not need to download WinZip. Give it a try. _________________ "DDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG"

x2x,
People use zip files to either make a file smaller so that it can be sent faster over the internet or you can also take a bunch of files and zip them into one file.
For example:
If you had 100 sheets of paper that you needed to send to someone, what would be easier? Send one piece of paper at a time or putting all the pieces of paper into one envelope and sending them together. Same concept.
By the way, pictures and videos (.jpg, .gif, .wmv, etc..) don't compress well, but you still can zip them into one file.
Hope this helps,
James |

oh and...
>like i have a video on my computer, and its in the list of things i can unzip,
If it already has a video extension (.mov, .wmv, .rm, .avi, and so on) It can not be upzipped.
Zip files can have a few extensions, .zip being the most popular. .exe files can be self extracting (upzipping). |

Are you downloading a program that has a .zip extension?
If so, you will need to unzip the program to use in. You can even delete the .zip file after unzipping it if you want, you won't need it. |
