Im 17 years old and live in NJ. i know nothing about wakeboarding but find myself fascinated with the sport. ive never tried snowboarding, skateboarding, or any boarding for that matter. except when i wakeboarded last summer for a day when i visited maine. although i wasn't all that great, i couldnt get enough of it. i really want to persue this but i have no idea where to start. i dont know of any local places i could go to learn and im skeptical about going out and buying equiptment and investing a lot of money in something i barely know anything about. im curious as to how people get started in this sport and afford to wakeboard everyday. anybody know of anything within the tristate area?

I'm sure there are boardshops in Jersey, go to Hyperlite, CWB, and Liquid Forces website and find a local dealer. I'd start there, well before that you might want to get a boat connection first, they (boat owners) may even have equipment you can use to really see if you like the sport. If you have access to CT check out Axis Boardsports in Brookfield CT. I frequented the shop when I lived there, and we rode on Candlewood Lake (very rough on weekends not a good place to go) and Lake Lillinonah.

there are a zillion posts on this site.. spend some time reading through them and you'll learn a ton. Go to a board shop in your area and start asking questions! Good luck, its a great sport.
