|
|
O.K. I am having trouble with new merchandise choices. I'm getting a Hyperlite Murray 142.3 (bio2 core I think) and I need help with the binding choice. I heard that the Murray Bindings were stiffer than the normal liking and since the Parks is the lightest and is much more flexible I was going to lean toward them but I would like to have a few more opinions before I choose. Thanks for reading _________________ Kung Fu my @$$!!! Try karate chopping a bullet!!! |

Try on as many bindings as you can, it's all personal preferance.
There are tons of things to consider besides stifness. Ankle support, lateral movement, footbed comfort. Don't just limit yourself to Hyperlite either. CWB, Liquid Force and Nice all have some really good bindings as well. |

I have last years murray bindings and i really liked them. I had tried a lot of bindings on and the Murray bindings were the most comfortable. Although they take a little longer to put on becuase they have the BOA, front laces, and the heel strap. My friend always gives me a bad time because he has the ultra sucs and has his board on in a second. Overall I like the murray bindings over the parks. _________________ NOR*CAL |

Personal preference... see which one you like.. the murrays look like they have all the cool things to play with.. (BOA syster, laces, option 2 strap) So it looks like they would take a while to get on before riding. and as prior40, I would at least check out some of Liquid force's bindings, they have a lot of nice bindings for the '05 season. _________________ www.glassjaw.net

| IMO I would go with the parks because they are much simpler (which I like). You dont have to worry about the BOA system breaking. Like you guys said before no screwing around with straps just throw them on and jump in. |

I haven't tried the parks, but I have the 04 Temet's (murrays), and I love them. All I can say is that I went from originally having 30/60's and thinking those were great, then I got some 04 byerly's and could not believe how much better they were. They fit so much more snug and just right everywhere around my foot.
And the funny part is, those were a size too big for me it turns out. I ended up with the 04 temets, one size down, and now pretty much have to get on the boat's platform and use lube to get them on (so it's a pain if the board pops off from a fall), but the three different tighteners all contribute to a perfectly snug, all around perfect fit everywhere around your foot, which means they are super responsive and give you tons of control.
The thing is, I would have never realized how much better I liked them than the byerly's if I hadn't actually just decided to buy them instead and actually rode them. I don't think you can tell by just trying them on, maybe some people can, I don't know. It's really too bad most shops (as far as I know) don't demo the higher end bindings, because I think you really need to try each of them to decide which you like best. (If anyone knows of any shops that actually demo the higher end bindings - chime in). |

Well thanks guys the help is appreciated but the only problem is, I'm limited to only Hyperlite because the guy I know, who will remain anonymous, gets sponsorships from hyperlite and since I (more like my dad) is a preffered customer of the dealership he can get me stuff at a discount so that if the whole set (Bindings board vest whatever) would normally cost $700-$800 he gets it at somewhere around $500-$600 or so. So like I said if you have any suggestions about the '05 hyperlite bindings please speak up. _________________ Kung Fu my @$$!!! Try karate chopping a bullet!!! |

I've got the 04 byerly's and there not really that stiff... and the BOA system hasn't failed once, they will unlock when you crash hard, which isnt a big deal. I think the new 05's have a slick material around the calf so its easier to get in too.
for simplicity, what about the highbacks? _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/damoncall/

Murraywannabe, the Murrays are very nice very supportive, and the parks are much looser feelin gofr poking, If you wanna little more specific advise on what bindings to get fo ryou as opposed to what all of us like. . throw us som einfo what do you look for in a binding, what tricks do you like, what level you are and is ease of entry and issue?? _________________ TEAM PIRATE, AAAARRRGGGHHH YOU READY?

O.K. then I'm lookin for a high end boot but I want to be able to move around easily in like to where I can just throw something outta wack just for fun and be able to get back quickly enough. I can go wake 2 wake HS and TS and can do most basic grabs and can do an Ailey but other than that I'm still learning. I wouuld like to be able to slip in the bindings without more struggle than nescessary but still fit well and at the same time be able to fall and not rip my foot off. I hope thats enough. _________________ Kung Fu my @$$!!! Try karate chopping a bullet!!! |

what bindings have you actually tried before? I'm telling you, I don't understand the "ease of entry" argument. I think it's well worth it to spend a few seconds tightening up the bindings to have a super snug, super comfortable, super responsive fit.
I would think anyone who's actually used bindings that truly fit well, would agree that it's worth 30 seconds of strapping in and tightening. |

d, I agree, but to each his own
Murraywannabe, I would say if you want real poke able bindings, I would say the Parks, the murrays are much stiffer and harder to poke out, but you obviously gain some support for that _________________ TEAM PIRATE, AAAARRRGGGHHH YOU READY?

I have 03 byerly's and I don't think the BOA is very time consuming at all. I get my board on in around a minute on the back of the boat and if I loose it on a crash I'm usually strapped back in before the driver can get the handle back to me. I love the way they fit and the ankle support is awesome. just my $.02 _________________ ......and one time at wakeboard camp. Come on people say something original. |
