Hi... Jus wanted too know why some boards have smooth-type tipped tails and other boards (generally the boards advertised for the more advanced rider) have more complicated dynamics on the tails of them? How does this affect the way the board rides?

ozboarder, The crazier looking tips are usually a more advanced board, all about poping and cavring and all that stuff.

ozboarder, the more basic shapes provide consistant pop even if the approach isnt perfect, the more advanced shape usually do stuff like vent channels to aide spped or carving like Liquid*Force*Rider, said but they hurt consistancy hence they are not used on beginner boards

a hairy nun, i believe we're talking about shape of the tail, not fins. ex: my juvi has more of a square tail where as your byerly has a crazy shape to it.

That makes sense... i hav a LF Evo and my pop off the wake is not that consistent so I could use all the predictability that I can get. (i'm trying too justify my first board purchace choice...) Thanx for your help Liquid*Force*Rider and Kento911. Seen as fins were brought up... I'm guessing by taking them off, the board will track more loosely across the water... Will it help my riding progression by taking them off?

You may find it difficult at first and really slipperly, but it will definitely teach you how to edge properly without relying on fins.

when i rodea hairy nun's board (hahaha that sounds funny) it definately fealt way slipperier than mine cuz he rides finless. But like ontrider said, after a while you get used to it. it's also way easier to do surface tricks w/ out fins.

if you want consistency in you board pop from the tail look at a LF litmus or omega. everyone has said the basics about tail shapes it has to do with speed, pop, and edging.
