American B-52s left for you today and A-10 warthogs are about to take off!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why not give them our f*cking plans for the whole war!!! This angers me so much. I don't think this kind of info needs to be released to the general public. Does anybody agree with me?? Would they do this if we were at war with China?

I don't think this information will help Iraq at all. They already know we are bombing them and flying planes in. I dont think telling them which type of planes will be dropping the bombs makes any difference.

It is an interesting point, I mean they are even drafting our strategies and military routes on a map on CNN for all the home viewers outthere. If this was a 2-sided battle it may be an issue, but really its a mood point. What are they going to do- launch a fleet of migs against us? If they turn on radar, the radar site gets blown up by F16's. If they deploy mechanics to work on a plane, the plane and the runway gets blown up. If they move a tank or any ground vehicle, it gets blown up. Its too late for them to plan a defense.

And remember, our defense dept uses the media as a war pawn, they will relay whatever msg they are told to relay, so our defense can get them to spread a message as part of the psychological game.

We pretty much have given them out plans for the whole war. I think this is for a few reasons, among them:

1-they can't possibly win anyway
2-We want to be sure they know where we will attack next, so they can surrender in the proper order by geographic location
3- This one is serious: We want to make sure the whold world knows how much trouble we are going through to avoid harming civilians, and we want the whold world to see that we are playing "fair" and not sneaking around. It seems to be the politically correct way to run a war.

They also said they are starting to fly C-17's in to the airstrip that the overtook in northern Iraq.

my dad brought up this point. this time they want the public to know what's going on so then it won't be like another vietnam. b/c there they didn't know what the soldiers were fighting for or fighting against.

Yeah its the whole mind game thing, i think nearly every major news network here as a reporter "embedded" within the 3rd infantry division, its just the Pentagon using are news as saddam and bin laden use al jazeera.

no, there is not anything funny about this war to me, not when you know peeps who are right in the middle of it, I know that propaganda plays an important part of any war, info and all, but come on, glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks there is way too much media involved......

Yesterday when they held up their white flags, then opened fire? I don't really think the military expected this type of resistance, or maybe they did? I personally thought this whole thing would play out like the gulf war did, with very few American/Brit deaths

not very likely b-52's are rather old planes not very high tech, yes they can carry alot of bombs but it only takes one bomb to destroy a city i.e. a nuclear bomb you could dop that from a hot air baloon. if you are talking major high tech look at b-2's f-117 sr71's those are the major high tech airplanes, oh and then you could talk about the airplanes that we don't even know about i.e. top secret stuff.

wakeryd- i think those are defenatly not funny neither is your pic of Bush in that hat, i personly think only morons would do stuff like that in a time like this.

uuuuhhhh!!! that is just like people saying "man look they are showing the iraqis exactly where our ground troops are" tell me how in the world you would describe to someone where in the world that is. "uuuuuhhh well you pass the first sand hill then go past four more sand hills then take a left and you will see them on the right." what i am trying to say is that there is no land mark except for sand that could even remotly give away there position, and even if they knew b-52's were coming what in the world would they do, they have not even put one plane into the air yet. and plus tonight we just knocked out there t.v. and central intelegence capabilities so no worries. Cool Cool Cool

James k. I just think that the broadcasters need to be more aware.
Where and what do you fly?

James, you should remain on the sidelines. You know not what you speak.

Do you know when the SR-71 first flew? 1962! It's not even part of the military's active inventory. NASA still uses it, but that's it, as far as I know.

"Old" does not necessarily mean "low-tech." There's really no such thing as an "old" plane. The airframe can be almost completely replaced, and they're constantly updated with new avionics, etc.
