| Im looking for a newbie board thats got some guidance but i can still progress into some nice tricks. Im a stocky 150 pounds and also have some sufficient expirence in water sports so i will be able to learn quickly. Im also a little confused on the fins and the rocker. Do i want the fins on if i want to make hard cuts? How should the board be shaped? What does a harder slope on the bottom do differently than a gradual one? Which do i want? What other aspects of the board should i look at in order to judge which one i want? |

Hey Lin Stacey,
Try the "board finder" first. The EDGE is for carving not fins, fins add stability (in fact, you can ride finless)
The "flatter" (i.e. less rocker) the board, the more distance you'll get when you pop off the wake as opposed to an abrupt three stage that'll kick you UP...so then it becomes a matter of your preference/riding style. Read about "rocker" hear on the forum - continuous vs. three-stage
One of my daughters started (and still rides) a Hyperlite Motive...there's a whole lot of fun (and ability to progress) built into that basic board shape...

| When asking about the fins and carving, i was wondering if the fins are going to hold you back from making the good cuts. If so, is it worth it to ride finless? |
