its gonna be HEAVY.
I've noticed anything shorter than 40ft goes by WAAAY to fast...your on it and off it in seconds.
IMO 60-80ft is a nice slide atleast you have time to do something on it... _________________ www.DallasWakeboarding.com |

I've finished the framing and the sheeting. All I have left to do is deck it and add my hinge and latches (it is going to fold in the middle so I can trailer it). The last picture is the plastic corrugated sheeting I used for the sides, its much lighter and cheaper than plywood. I get it from a company that sells plexiglass, when the shipments of glass come in it is packaged with the plastic on top and bottom for protection. I picked it up for 5 bucks a sheet.
Total build cost so far is $250.00 and I have 8 or 10 2x4s left |

I'm putting a hinge across the bottom in between the two sections. It will be able to fold in half and be loaded onto a trailer. Folded it will be 27' long, 6' high and 9' wide. check the picture-- the drawing on the right side middle of the page.
I know its gonna be a bitch to move around on land but we should be able to do most of the setup in the water. |

It's breeding, I'm good at everything!
I just try and build things strong and at the same time make them look good. I have to use the same approach on the RVs so I'm kind of used to it. |

Sick rail, reminds me a lot of the one at the camp I work at... We had to trailer that thing around to comps on weekends and man, it was a pain in the ass...
What are you going to use to float it? And have you decided on a surface for it yet? |

Its going to float on six drums. I'm going to use trex, but I'm still not sure what type of trex to get? The stuff I've looked at seems a little rough to me, but i've never ridden a trex decked slider before either.
Will post more pics tonight, The hinge and the latches are mounted now. |

More pics! Almost done!
You can see the hinge inbetween the two sections and the latches(2) that will hold it open while in use. The other two pics just show it about half folded. I cant fold it all of the way with the RVs in the shop. |

Got the trex mounted today. Just need some good weekend weather for the first lake test on this beast.
I really didn't think it was going to be so massive. The plans I drew didn't do it justice at all.
I'll make a new post with pics from our first session on it. |

Ok, here's the scoop. One of my employees asked me what I now believe to be a very sarcastic question, "once you unfold and use it how are you going to refold it to load it up?".
I couldnt figure out how. The slider would have to be tipped on it's side while floating to refold it. So I had to revamp the thing. What I've decided is to remove the hinge and add three 1 1/4" dowels as locator pins, and two more heavier duty latches to the bottom corners. We will float the pieces separately then with the aid of the locators will latch them together.
I only have one thing to say-- HOW COME NONE OF YOU CAUGHT THIS PROBLEM!!
Still waiting for a nice weekend to try it out. |

skobi1 - the A-frame we trailered around in the summer was in two pieces, connected in the middle by a few bolts. To take it apart we'd have to remove one of the side panels and unbolt the pieces - was pretty quick, but after moving it a couple times the stress on the 2x4s started to build up, and stuff started to break. By the end of the summer it was pretty much dead Hope your idea works out better for you! |

| We added the pins and latches today. Maestro, I was thinking the same thing, so I picked up a bunch of hurricane ties (metal straps that hold rafters to walls in houses) and reinforced all the main joints around the base of the frame. |
