Swass,
Quote from JJ... "I only make bikes for cool people."
He has turned people away.... Of course this is all just from what I read, I don't know the guy. He reportedly told Fred Durst to go away. Guess when you are making bikes by hand and there is a year pluss waiting list to drop 60-160 K for your product, it is easy to pick and choose.
Yep, only time before you lay her down or someone "didn't see you" and turns you into literal road kill.
E.J.

It also occurs to me the first thing someone does when they get a harley is change anything and everything they can. It's the parts that everyone else makes for the harley, the vision that everyone else has that makes it look good. |
I haven't heard of harleys having a reliability problem since the AMF days. If they're such pieces why is the resale on them so high? Probably the same reason resale on Nautiques is so high. Reliability and quality. Also the reason people replace their fenders, paint, bars, etc. is because they want to personalize their bike. They dont want to roll up at daytona or sturgis and see 100 bikes the exact same as theirs. If someone adds fender flares or different wheels to their car does that mean they think it's not stylish? I dont think so. I think they want their car to be different.

It takes balls to ride a Crotch rocket at speeds of 200+ km/h
I know the new suzuki 1100 is said to reach 340 km/h and its comfortable speed is 260 kmh. The test also say that it can do highway speeds in first gear. No ofence but i couldnt imagine someone doing 60mph in first gear on a harley.

| i dont think anyone is gonna argue that any harley will take any 1100 cc sport bike. people dont buy harleys because they want the fastest bike.

OH NO! NO NO NO NO NO! dont get me wrong, i am COMPLETELY against "fast and furious" i couldnt stand that movie, with all the rice burners and their buzzy exhaust notes. and i am all about american stuff, i own an american truck. nothin wrong with it. but im not going to buy a bike just cause its american. i want my bike to DO something for me, not just attract attention. i happen to like the thrill of laying down my knees in the corners. if i could pick id go german or italian. DONT GET ME WRONG! i like american stuff, but not harleys they dont make any sense.

ducatti, aprilla, BMW... all make sick bikes, they are soo fast, and handle great. but i do have to say that even tho i am agianst the rice rocket fad... i do like suzuki's bikes. they make some absolutely stellar dirt bikes, and their sport bikes are pretty awesome.

If I had a crotch rocket I'd probably die. Harley's or choppers look like fun but on those perfect weekends when you want to take out the bike, wouldn't you rather be on the lake???
I believe all those custom choppers use a Harley engine. So either way you're getting something Harley. If this engine is such a piece why do all those custom chopper companies use them? My guess is the Harley engine is like a Chevy 350. Been around so long it's a standard, highly customizable and everyone knows how they work.
Sean- Ducatti's are very expensive bikes. I think their cheapest bike is 15-20 grand.

Most choppers use an air-cooled v-twin. Which is what the harley uses in all of it's bikes except the new v-rod. So in a sense they do use the same engine but they're not all made by harley-davidson.

Both bikes have their place, Harley's are more image while the rice is all performance. I used to have a sport bike, but it was stolen. Personally I'd take performance over image, in fact I may be getting a death machine soon...
There's something about a bike that cost less than 10 grand yet is faster than any car on the road.

My $0.02:
Nobody will be able to convince me that a bike that owes it's success in modern times, not to performance, innovation, comfort, reliability, or some other measurable virtue, but to an image which is marketed primarily to red-neck thugs, superficially patriotic sheep, and yuppie posers, is the only bike worth having.

rollinphat, I know my wife likes them, but won't have one
They're a fine bike if you like them, but there's others. SNOBS have nothing on Harley fanatics.
Come over to the dark side, try it, you'll like it

SNOBS? If you're saying that Harley fanatics are SNOBS, i would say i hit the nail on the head by saying you obviously don,t know what you are talking about.Calling People with Harleys snobs is most likely the way you deal with jealousy or your inadequacy's.I think your missing the point, you either can't comprehend the point i was making refering to your original responce,or maybe years of inbreeding has made it's mark.

its my dream to own a harley, but I probably won't ever live that dream because I have an addiction to breathing, and one mistake by another driver and your history.

Well rollinskinny, you may know a bi about a certain brand of bikes, but you've shown you know bupkiss about boats.
SNOB ( Sport Nautique Open Bow ) their owners are inordinantly proud of owning a Nauti and are well known for the acronym. They won't ride anything but a Nauti, very much like Harley fanatics.
