ok i got a question fellas.. my birthday is coming up and my mom said that i could get either a new wakeskate or a new wakeboard...
i am leaning towards the new wakeskate for a few reasons:
1. i have an i/o
2. no tower
3. no wake

i know how to ride a wakeskate pretty good ( for me atleast) with surface spins and about a foot and half ollie... i am working on shuv-its right now.. my current board is the 2003 cassette 9 ply 45..

should i move on to a bi-level or just a normal concave deck, or should i just stick with what i got and get a new wakeboard?
just lookin for some opinions

beasoldierprstn, it's all about what you want to do... I don't think anyone on here can tell you what you want... if it were me, and I had the choice... I would ask for anything newer from Cassette or Integrity, or even another flat deck from Kampus (give them some options to choose from, so that way you don't really know exactly what you are getting, it takes the fun out of birthdays if you already know what you got)... but like I said, I have no idea what you want to do...

senorbueno, yeah, the way i said it came off kinda wrong.... i am really looking into new wakeskates right now.
i am really just tryin to get a feel for what are the best boards.. like what makes integrity soo great. the only board that i know anything about, besides the one i have, is the bi-level. and i heard it is THE BEST. i do agree with you senorbueno that it does get kind of bland if you know what you are getting, but i know my parents will just buy the cheapest board i tell them about Mad

http://www.wakeskating.com/showarticle.php?a=269
-There is David Barousse's review of the Integrity skates

http://www.wakeskating.com/showarticle.php?a=303 and http://integrity-wake.com/test/instruments.htm
-There is more information on the 05 Integrity skates

http://www.wakeskating.com/showarticle.php?a=312
-There is a link to a video of Cassette team rider Aaron Reed talking about the Bi-Level

Do a little research... search this site, and wakeskating.com for more information on those decks, as well as a lot of others

beasoldierprstn, the integ is a very durable board made by a legend in our sport Erich Schmaltz, the bi-lev is unarguably less durable, but offers a completely different ride form anything out there some have said its awful some love it, or there is always the mainstays of the industry the Cassette 4trac, the Kampus K-Seris, and the Hyperlite, and Liquid Force line of concaves, also I noticed your riding a 45 inch skate, why so big??

beasoldierprstn, I have both Cassette Bi-level and Integrity and I would say go ahead and get the bi-level. Thomas is sending the new batch and it should hit shops this week or the next, I wish the bi-level came out when I first started.. Everything is easier to pull and a completely diffrent ride. The Integrity is lighter but really loose and not good for beginers. I would definently say get the BI-Level..

well when i got it, i weighed like 195, (like 6 months ago) now i weigh 166-168 range. i thought it was like wakeboarding and you had to get the bigger board for the bigger people. so now that i am regular sized again, i was planning on getting a smaller board.

what is the diff. between large vs. small board? are smaller boards easier to flip around and stuff or what?

lets say i do look into the bi-level, which size should i get for my weight range..... i dont see what the difference of a few inches is going to do (40" - 42" on bi-level)

beasoldierprstn, size has no bearin gon the size of the rider in wakeksating. . . .basically a bigger board is more stable and better for wake to wake style stuff, where a smaller board will be better for flippy stuff and such. . . personally I have heard peoole be all ove rthe board about the bilev som elov eit some hate it none in between. . . . my suggestion to you is demo: demo everything you can only you are gonna know what you like

Im 225 and I ride a 39 inch modified HL gate, soooo dont let size, or public opinion limit you

yeah, i live like 40 minutes away from O-town... and i am tryin to convince my parents to take me over to performance ski.... so i can demo a few boards.

i have one more question about the weight vs. size of board thing..
why is it soo important to get into the correct weight range for wakeboarding, but it doesnt really matter for wakeskating? like is it because the boards are made of different materials or what? i have been wondering this for a while, but never really asked. Confused

ohh, because when i first came to the site to learn about wakeboarding, a lot of people said that certain body weights are only aplicable with the board in the correct lengths. Laughing

well if your really big, then you'll need a bigger board. But if your average or smaller then any board will do, depends on what you like. Alot of the pros are short and skinny yet ride bigger boards

senorbueno, you are making good posts for a newbie. Keep it up.

About the skates, what you have isnt bad but if you want a new skate, integritys and bi levels seem to be the way to go.
