The reason I support this war is because I am willing to lay down my life for this cause.

Todd- are you serious? Why would you do it if you think your life would be wasted? Are you suicidal or something?

I would be willing to die for my country as long as i supported the cause. In this case I do. If my life could save even a fraction of another life so that they could experience the freedom and happiness that i am able to in the United States that's an infinite amount of times better than dying of old age or any cause other than trying to save someone's life.

That's not a question we can honestly answer until the bullets fly. Those who brag about how tuff they'll be are usually the ones who piss down their leg and then run the other way.

It's an interesting question...

We could just bomb them from afar and have no U.S. casualties, of course than the Iraqi Civilian casualty count would be really high. So basically, the people that die are dying for the Iraqi Civilians.

Also, those that are going into combat aren't facing certain death. From the first conflict there was about 300 casualties, doubling that is 600 out of 400,000 troops, so you have a .15% chance of dying, I would definitely take that risk for this cause. There will also probably be less than 600 casualties. But if you asked me if I'd die for Iraqi Civilians I'd have to say no.

If I was in the military I would most definitely go and fulfill my duty, as I would if there was a draft and I was drafted.

i thought this quote kinda went with the subject
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." Gen. George S. Patton

another Patton quote i like
"Give me an army of West Point graduates and I'll win a battle. Give me a handful of Texas Aggies and I'll win a war."

But mainly OZ/NZ, remember the ANZAC's!

You eliminate an enabler to terrorist activity. You eliminate a nation that is willing to harbor terrorist. You eliminate a dictator who pays the families of suicide bombers. You eliminate a supplier of chemical and biological agents.

They aren't as seperate as you may think.

All valid points, but they aren't the same enemy. Ties? Possibly. Probably. But I don't think the Bali Bombing was influenced at all by Saddam. Maybe history will prove me wrong, but we aren't privy to future history yet are we?

No I understand the stretch in connecting these things. I also don't believe Bali was connected to Saddam but in the greater picture of a War on Terrorism this is a good thing. Given this is most likely not your fight. This fight should be a combined effort of the UN. Or we should have gone all the way in 1991.

I posted this on Wakeworld also... 3 out of the 5 permanant members of the UN security counsel have been implicated in selling Iraq banned goods per the UN Resolutions. If the members of the UN can't uphold the treaties they have passed what is the point of a global governing organization???

I agree history can prove us all wrong. We may learn things tomorrow that make everything I've said invalid.

Have you all heard about the suppossed kid around 15 or 16 that is in Iraq on the net writting a diary of the events taken place? It seems to be pretty impartial to both sides from what I hear.

What's the address? It is probably made up, internet access is limited in Iraq so I doubt a 15 or 16 year old can write a online diary. Additionally, why would it be in English? I really wish they had more of an internet presence, I think their point of view would be invaluable. It seems the best source for insight is from the Iraqis that are in the states now, they seem to be way in favor of the war.

Uh, wakewhoever - you don't join to fight a particular war. You join the service and go where they send you, Guam, Germany... ...

Swass was not being negative. It's true that the 'biggest' talkers usually turn out to be fake. Look at all the posts about folks who are posers to wakeboarding.

It's one thing to join the service to fulfill a commitment to your country. It's possible you'll be put in harm's way. It's foolish to go out of your way to be in harm's way though.

The most successful soldiers are those with an extremely developed sense of survival. Let the other side loose soldiers, not us.

Anyone that was in the service knows that the true bad asses were the guys that were just normal. The ones that acted all hard at basic did not make it, the ones that talked a lot when they got to there first duty station freaked out about going to NTC or Bosnia, Siani, etc.... It's been my opinon that the best method has always been more observation and thinking than talking up something you know nothing about.
