dock starts, still haven't mstered those. yet they are fun to mess around with. I start with the board underneathe as that is how I get up on a wakeboard too, and after I got comfortable witht he skate I do that now. less strain in getting up, and just feels better period

Hmm..what do you all mean by underneath you? I do it the same way I do a wakeboard, sitting like I've got skis on but with a wakeboard.

I believe they're referring to what's sometimes called a "deep water start" I think, where the board is actually under the water, with your toes tilted up, so when you're pulled you rise to the surface. I do it this way on a wakeboard.

The way you say you get up is often referrred to as a "wally start". When I first learned to wakeboard I did it this way, on a skate I do it this way still.

I have the boat in gear with the board directly in front of me (to keep a little tension on the rope and to keep the board in place) and then have the driver hit the gas and get up

getting up? ummm ...viagra. no just kidding man. yah ...deep water starts are the easiest i think.just make sure to keep more pressure on your heels until the boards outta the water.

i do it with the board under water. you dont have to worry about the line being tight taht way. the only thing is that i cant see my board because the water is too murky.

My boat doesn't have the get up and go like some, so its easier for me to have the board on top of the water, seems like there is less of a pull on it, and can get right out of the water by just standin up once it goes.

I just recently tried wakeskating for the first time. Took 2 times until I was up. I found if the driver puts just a slight bit of tension in the rope you can put skate underwater in the same orientation like a board and then hit it and up you be. Now the trick is staying up long enough to enjoy it. I have found these to be hyper sensitive and turn very very fast. I sure like the dis-mount(fall) program. Very easy and actually kind of fun. Just float up and swim to get board. No more binding struggle, No more potential knee damage. However doubt if I will be doing many tricks. But had a great time. I am an old guy...... Very Happy

I just finished putting some coats of sealer on my new wakeskate I built and figured id start like I do on a wakeboard board with it floating in front of me. This however really hurts my hands on the tug. Im pretty sure I could sink my skate but with my wakeboard being attached to my feet I can never do it. Its just way to bouyant. I tried laying on my stomach and on my back with no success. Figured Id also try going sideways, but nothing. I left a post on a different thread about this and they said to tuck in my kness. It just made me seem like I was rocking back and forth on my butt. Ive been able to keep the board under me If I wipe out and it ends up undernether me but otherwise I'm suck. Any help???

sitting on the dock with the board ontop of the water is the easiest way to learn, after that its all the same. just depends if you wanna get wet or stay dry to start.

I do it with the board underneath me. It's too akward to try to hold it out front. I never have a dock around when I skate (because I don't own a skate) so I've only tried acid drops a couple times.

I prefer fingerflip bomb drops off of docks, but the easiest for begginers by far is the beach start that colefooter mentioned with less run and just kinda step onto the board.
