Well Kento911 size will actually matter for crazymo, he's gunna need a board thats more towards the large end of things considering hes 240 lbs. Crazymo it all depends on your wakeskate experience. If you've never tried it, you might just wanna drop a little bit of money on some entry level model like the HL scape or something, if you're serious, you can consider some more serious skate manufacturers such as cassette, kampus, or integrity.

i kno how to wakeskate, i just dont have a board. the reason i ask what kind 2 get is because i heard wood isnt as good 4 bigger guys like me. i can afford a more expensive board, like up to around $250 tops.

cRaZyMo, the integrity is $295.00 as well and are a more proven design, I'd look that way, plus they aren't wood which is good, i would say demo some.

The way I see it when picking out a skate is what is your goal with it. If you just want something to mess around on in between wakeboarding sets I'd get a flat deck. HL, LF, and cassette all have a flat deck for under $100. They're all pretty similar.

If you really want to get into skating and be able to land some tech tricks you need to upgrade to the next level. These are the cassette concave (or 4 track), Integrity, Cassette Bi-Level, Kampus. These are in the $150-300 range. Most people like wood skates because they are heaver and you can control them better than the HL skates. If you like the lighter skates you can look into the compression molded concaves from HL. Once you narrow your search down You can ask about differences in the specific skates. I would demo them if you can. It's a lot about personal preference.

Wakebrad, the new hypes are heavier than cassettes, and the Kampus line doesn't have a concave(no the swing does not count), but other than that right on

Kento911, I didn't say Kampus was a concave.... which brings a good question to me... why do so many people ride Kampus if it's not concave? I mean what features does it have to put it above any other flat deck? There are some great skaters who ride Kampus, what's the draw? And the swing says it's concave but it doesn't appear to be...

I didn't know the new HLs are heavier than cassettes... interesting

cRaZyMo, if you think you want to get serious with it and you don't mind spending the extra money I'd get one of the upgraded boards. The only time I would recomend someone buy a flat deck is if they knew they didn't want to get serious. You have so much more control of the board with a concave.

Wakebrad, the swing is pressed with cupped edges, which makes the board have some concave, bu I dont think it should count, truth be told Kampus just makes a good riding skate, the k-39 is just as good as any concave out there

yeah the hypes are heavy now, everybody was whining that they were too light, so hype added lead weights to thge byerly and karma and double glassed the catalyst to make them heavier

Ctipping, they were too light up until this year, and HO still makes them

the byerly has the center rod,
the catalyst is double layered fiberglass,
and the karma has weights in the tips

SuBjEkTeD37, yeah, well Im working on that, I am probably going to cut just enought to dig the weights out, and then cut it the length I want, and bondo the weights back in

Kento911, what is the advantage of putting the weights at the tips as opposed to weighing down the whole thing wit mor glass like the catalyst?

cRaZyMo, the swing weight, personally I think the double galss is the best way, b/c it's even weight and adds to the boards durability, but the other metods supposedly giv the board more control in the air

matt1808, You are correct.

Kento911, You are not Wink

The Leif and Wahlman are both concave. The Swing, I believe, is a design that involves heel-to-toe rocker giving it subtle and total concave.

Wakebrad, ok to answer your question... the kampus skates are very popular because they aren't very expensive compared to other skates around... really they are extremly nice skates and I really cant tell a difference that my K doesn't have concave compared to my old LF concave.. They are light(not too light tho), very durible and they pop great!!!

these skates are also great for riders with big feet because they skates are very wide... its just to show you that concaves arn't everything.... the swing has a V type shape... it has a concave like a skateboard unlike LF which raises or presses the wood into the concave shape...

matt1808, the leif and steve are concaves but alot of people will say no to this because when ppl think concave they think of kicktails and raised rails on a cassette or LF... the leif and steve has abit of concave in the nose and tail...
