tige danny, I used to shoot tons of film (100+ rolls a month) a few years ago before I started using digital capture. I still shoot some film when I have to.
For shooting wakeboarding, I mainly used Fuji Provia100F. Very good resolution, fine grain, neutral color balance while staying contrasty enough for things to "pop". Rate the film at EI 80 instead of 100.
For shooting people, I'd shoot Fuji Astia 100.
When I was shooting wakeboarding and wanted very saturated colors, or shooting sunsets/landscapes, I'd shoot Fuji Velvia 50... I've tried shooting the newer Velvia100 a bit, and it's nice as well. Velvia is great if you push it one stop.. nice and contrasty, and great colors. Not the best film for portraits though.
I've also used Kodak films a bit. For most things I prefer Fuji, but Kodak has nice things. For product photography, EPP works great... for people, I really liked EPP or EPN. E100G is also very good for people and product. For shooting landscapes and scenics, E100GX and E100VS are great. E100VS is not a good film for people, though, as it tends to shift red and doesn't work well for skintones.
