kazaa question...

on kazaa, when you search for tihngs, some of the things have that gold icon next to them, if you download them, its like a free trial or something, does that mean you have to pay for it later??? or can you just get the free trial with out paying?

oooops then, i didnt know what it was, then downloaded one, then i didnt know what the gold thing was, and looked it up, it said something about premium, and free trials, but it didnt say if you have to pay for it, so if i downloaded it, will i HAVE to pay now? or do i just have the free trial?

they cant make you pay unless you give them a credit card number or something. it will probably only work a set number of times then they will say you have to pay for it to keep working.

On kazaa how do you raise your participation I saw this guy the other night his stats were on like beast because he had like a 1000 next to him I have low 4 or somthing. Confused

i just read on the kazaa guide thing on how you do that, go to the web part, and read the kazaa FAQ's, its in there or around there on how to get it higher, where can you see your own participation?

allright yea I get it now but heres a scarey question. Why when you delete it, it keeps the info like your name. And I hear all this spyware or somthing what is it.

Spyware is a program that gets info from your computer about whatever it wants and sends it to a server. It can get anything from what websites you visit to your name to what programs you have to your musical preference(from what songs you download).

if you download kazaa-lite it is a lot safer. It isn't spyware.

But I dont think Kazaa ever deletes all the way cuz if I delete it and download it again it will show my username. Neutral

Thats just a preference file saved somewhere on the system. It just stores stuff like your username so you dont have to enter it in every time you start kazaa. Its not actually still installed.

hey joseph i think i've got my participation up to something like beast, maybe like superhuman or something i think it said, cant remember now. but yeh thats cos it was starting without me knowing whenever mum turned the computer (kazaa's preset preferences to startup) so yeh its cos there were so many uploads, probly not making much sense tonight,

Yeah I read the participation thing and it said that if you want it to come up you should "Kreate" a kazaa file that people like or somthing. And the other thing was to let people upload from you more than you download. Mad

I would recommend a few thing when using Kazaa with high-speed internet--

Turn off file sharing in Kazaa. Be concerned with the individual in this case, not with the Kazaa community- your computer and your privacy are important.

Download the free version of Zone Alarm from downloads.com, its completely legit. Its a firewall that will protect traffic in and out of your computer. You can keep it on default options, and always keep it running.

DO NOT download anything besides media files like mp3's or videos(no .exe files, and ESPECIALLY no .vbs files). They can infect your computer with Spyware, and worst of all they can contain viruses. And don't download any of the 'gold' icons, thats all junk from Kazaa and its almost impossible to completely get that crap off your computer.

What i did to get my particpation up was to borrow a freinds "DVD ripper", ripped all my dvds put them on my computer then i just leave my computer on overnight.People always like to download dvds so i got higher and higher particaption I have broadband and a firewall.

does your participation level really matter much, is it bad to have a high participation level, mine says its high 176, what does that mean?

i am not sure exactly but i think it is to do with what place u will be placed in a queue if you go for a popular item, ie. you'll get it or start to download it before someone with a low particapation. i think that makes sense ?

A high rating is good, I guess. It just means that you are sharing a lot. I don't know exactly what this rating will do, but I've had people not share with me because of a very low rating. I'm have like a 400 right now which makes me a Guru.

o ok, thanx, i think i understand it, i have it at that, becasue when i use my kazaa, i always forget to close it, ill come back, and thre will be like 50 people that have downloaded from me, so i guess thats why, because i dont download too much

i have kazaalite which has no spyware plus i have kazaa hack which bumps your participation level to 1000. the higher your participation level the less often you get bumped if your user level is low, everytime someone with a higher participation level needs a slot, you will get bumped. when you download, it goes down, when you upload it goes up. i can send it to you or just search kazaa. my d\l speeds reach up to 140kb\s. also check out the vlc player, it plays .dat files while they are still downloading.

Kazaa Hack 2.1.exe a lot of the stuff comes with the complete kazaalite which can be downloaded from cnet downloads.com or kazaa. i had completely stopped using kazaa because of the long d\l times. now i can d\l files at up to 140 kb\s and download 20+ files at one time. dont DL software that much dont download things with no users and before you open them scan them with antivirus.
