you do not need a tower, especially when you are starting out, It will help your friends who don't know how to get up get up though...To clear the wake work on a Progressive Edge, thats where when you are cutting into the wake you cut harder and harder untill you are at the wake and cutting the hardest, then stand tall at the wake...good luck.

Like Bowen said, you don't need a tower to help you clear the wake. With a little practice you should be able to. Towers will help you get out the water faster and may give you a little added height. They are also great for getting your boards up and out of the boat when not in use. Best advice is find some fellow boarders on the site that will take you out and show you a thing or two.

it's true you do not need a tower to learn, but from a man who rode with out one for years. They are so nice, it will help you progress faster too.

Im glad someone posted about this.. i used to ride on a 98 mastercraft with tower (thats what i learned on), but mah step dad sold it and got a newer boat (forget what kinda boat it is haha, havent looked at it in a while), but it has no tower, and i was pretty bummed cause i was thinking that i might have trouble clearing the wake without it

glossyride, yes. Check the Monster tower site - they have pictures of all sorts of boats with their towers installed.

you dont need a tower to get alot of air like everyone else said. i try to learn new tricks at the cable lake and then take it behind the boat. once you learn how to egde you can get alot of air without a tower. you should beable to learn raleys, backrolls, tantrums, scarecrows, and everything else up to a 540 without a tower.
