Hi, my boyfriend got a wakeboard last year and has gotten pretty good hang of it, but he works on an alumacraft. Are there anyoperating hints that could help him get the most out of this boat, such as till up or down, a different mechanism for holding the rope, or hints about the wake? I would like to get him something for his bday so if any of these would work that would be great!

Get him a tower or some fat sacks. Or an extended pylon.

Check out http://www.monstertowers.com for you best bang for your buck they are the ones to go with. I paid about $1300CDN for one and I have loved it since. Makes a huge difference.

Toss a couple fat sacs in there, weigh the boat down....trim the engine up and BAM, watch him progress to a whole new level.

HOLY CRAP!!! You guys suggesting the tower or pylon missed a very important piece of info in her post....she said her boyfriend has an "Alumacraft".....

Rolling Eyes

If you can tell me how to mount a tower to the gunnels of that boat, or how to mount a pylon to it, i'd be impressed....

I'd bet my last dollar that you can't.

Two questions that I have are:

1. What length of boat is said Alumacraft?
2. What size motor is on said Alumacraft?

K-dub, get 1/4" checker plate, cut it in a 6" square, plate it behind the inside of the boat.
that way the tower wont stress on the metal, it will flex the plate. Some guy @ the lake I ride had an alumacraft fishing boat with a 135 and he said it worked fine.......

Yes your right, I dont know what length or engine size it has, so I can see where your coming from.

you can put on a pylon, but as for weight.....i don't know how much you can put in there. I would just go sand bags and rubbermaid comtiners full of water Idea

it can be done, that's not my point really.

The point i'm trying to make is that since it's an aluminum boat there are some major issues that need to be adresses before a tower or pylon can even be recommended. Aluminum boats aren't built for the stresses that a tower will add to the gunnels. As well as, the floor isn't meant to support a ski pylon, much less an extended pylon.

I'm positive it can be done, but there are other issues besides the integrity of the boat.
If the boat's too small, adding a rope attatchment at a height like a tower or pylon will provide will make the boat tip over while the rider cuts to the outside of the wake. And on top of that, will make it almost impossible to drive. Adding weight will make it even worse.
Point blank, i'm willing to bet that it will be just plain unsafe all together.

Size of the boat, and engine are very, very important factors in this case.

You have got to be the coolest girlfriend in the world. Your boyfriend is very lucky. I don't know what I'd do if my g/f got me something wake related...Actually, I'ld love it, but I'd be a little up set b/c I know she would have gotten ripped off...lol
