i'm all for the war. too bad jean chretien (the canadian prime minister) doesn't ahve the balls to go to war. he's been downsizing our armies the whole time he's been in parlament. my mom works for the gov't and she says that we're down to 60k personel. that's including administration and troops and support staff and all that crap. if we ever got attacked we're screwed. there's more troops in kuwait right now than there is in the canadian armed forces.

Having read, debated, and researched the situation I fully support our governments move. I also see the actions of the UN as cowardly and it further proves that the UN does not have the authority to enforce it's own treaties.

Support the Troops even if you don't support the war.

No. I think they should just get someone to assassinate Saddam and all his family. There's gotta be someone in Iraq that's sick of him and would be willing to do it.

It's late, and I probably sound extremely ignorant, but my mind isn't thinking too well on this one. But no, I don't support war. I think it will just start a huge mess. I heard an interview with the lead singer from Disturbed and he made some very good arguments as to why Bush shouldn't bomb Iraq. I'll try and find a transcript or something tomorrow.

I kind of agree Maestro. I am an Army brat, the son of 2 Vietnam vets, and my OD green family line goes all the way back through Patton and Thomas Jefferson. It would be SO much more cost effective in $$$ and lives to go covert to remove Saddam from power. The agreement to not assinate each others leaders has a purpose, but war sucks.

I believe in AMERICA, period.....

Quiggleymaster- don't worry about not having troops cuz when the stuff hits fan AMERICA will come to the rescue. France-good luck to em.... I only drink California wine from now on...

pact 1441 was never upheld that is reason enough to go to war. why does AMERICA need to prove anything Saddham needs to prove his innocence cuz the UN already proved him guilty when the 1441 resolution was drafted. What does France have to say about that, more time please.... FAGS!

Maestro, I disagree with you but that's really not the point of my comment. Don't take this wrong but is the lead singer from Disturbed the best place to get your information. If that's the case then we should all also be ashamed of the President because the Dixie Chicks say so. Watch the news and read the papers and make an educated opinion for yourself based on the facts not on what someone in the limelight says.

I support the war, and I think the UN has proved that it has become useless. The bottom line is that Saddam is breaking international law set by the UN, but the UN doesn't have the balls to enforce it's own laws. IMHO there is no use in creating laws if you aren't willing to enforce them.
If we were talking about a convicted child molester that refused to comply with Megans law and sign up on the sex offenders registry, stay away from children, etc, would we wait until he did something horrible to another child, or would we arrest him becaus ehe is already breaking the law? Saddam needs to be taken down now, or it will become even harder to take him down later.

I understand what you're saying MR, but I was just saying that he had some very good arguments that I agree with. I'm not just following what he says because of who is he is. In fact, I don't even really like Disturbed.

Maestro, that's good enough for me. As long as decisions are made on fact then we're all better off.

This was just sent to me and I have to share it:

SEVERE EARTHQUAKE IN FRANCE

March 4, 2003. Today it was reported that severe earthquakes have
occurred in 10 different locations in France. The severity was measured in
excess of 10 on the Richter Scale. The cause was the 56,681 dead American
soldiers buried in French soil rolling over in their graves. According to
the American Battle Monuments Commission there are 26,255 Yankee dead from
World War I buried in 4 cemeteries in France. There are 30,426 American dead
from World War II buried in 6 cemeteries in France. These 56,681 brave
American heroes died in their youth to liberate a country, which is guilty of
shameful unspeakable behavior in the 21st century. May the United States of
America never forget their sacrifice as we find ways to forcefully deal with
the Godforsaken unappreciative, forgetful country of France!

All this misplaced aggression towards France is funny, they didnt have to veto the new resolutions because we didnt let it come up for a vote, why....because it didnt even have the necessary 9 pro votes to pass so no need to veto. Also isnt it ironic that we are ignoring the UN and attcking a country w/out a UN resolution because they ignored UN resolutions?

noneya, I have to disagree a little with your statement. I believe the UN resolutions that Iraq is ignoring call for action including the use of force if they are not complied with. So the UN has already passed a resolution that should support the use of force in Iraq. We have tried to introduce new resolutions that were more specific about the use of force. i could be totally off base about this, but usually when a law is created (UN resolution) it is more effective if there is a punishment that goes along with breaking the law.

Noneya- I also disagree. America is taking action where the UN has failed. The UN has proven in the past that it is incapable of handling situations such as these. We didn't take it to vote because it wasn't needed. The USA is not a country willing to allow appeasement by the UN or any other governing body. We learned our lessons.

I don't support or oppose the war. I don't know enough about what is REALLY going on to take a stand. Sure hope as few people as possible get hurt, though.

At least cameraboy has an honest answer.......

Ok people that think war against Iraq is not justified, tell me what are we going to do about N.Korea? If you think Suddam is a threat wait till we start dealing with these guys.... Oh and did you hear France will join the war efforts only if Saddam Insane uses chemical warfare. I thought the French were under the impression Suddam didn't have weapons of mass destruction. Sounds like they are not too sure on that one now are they.

It is about weapons of mass destruction.
All you NO WAR FOR OIL people need to open your eyes.

Freedom is not free, everything costs something to obtain, even freedom.

It may be a little bit about oil, but in the sense that Saddam can use it's oil to help in it's, for a lack of better terms, cause.

What is really curious is Japan attacked the U.S. for cutting off shipments of... Oil. North Korea is upset at the U.S. for cutting of shipments of... Oil. Or at least these were major reasons, there is a lot more to it than that.

Kind of makes you go... HMMMM..

Nothing is clear cut. This war isn't just about oil, weapons of mass destruction and an opressive dictator. It's about all of the above and more.

I don't think the aggression towards france is missplaced. It's the principle of what they said that bugs me. They stated that they will join the coalition IF Iraq used chemical and biological weapons on the US. I look at it this way:

Picture this. You are standing in a room. Someone walks up to you with a huge knife and makes the movement to stab you. Are you gonna move out of the way and try and get the knife away from him (take the precautions to keep from getting stabbed), or are you gonna wait to get stabbed and hope that the attacker decides not to stab you. Then, when he does stab you, you try and take action against him.

France is waiting for the US to get stabbed. The threat of Iraq has grown too large and nothing has changed. We had to take action.

Jen,

I think there would be some motivation and management issues with that. Forcing people to fight has proved not to be very successful (IE; U.S. Forces in Vietnam, Iraqi Forces).

In Vietnam some U.S. soldiers committed major atrocities, probably because they weren't motivated, didn't want to be there. I think using criminals would cause similiar problems.

This may have been tried somewhere in history, I have a vague recollection of something. If I get bored maybe I will research it, I love history.

That's a cool idea, motivating prisoners with a shortened sentence or something. Someone should make a movie about something like that. Yea, there could be a special squad of criminals, maybe 12 or so. And they could have a cool name, something like the really mean dozen, or the dirty 12 or, hey, how about this: The Dirty Dozen?

All I can say is I'll support the decision that our leaders make. I mean, we did put them there, so we might as well support the decision we made when we all elected them. We may not agree with it, but you should still stand behind them all the way.

But, I support the war anyway, because Sadam needs to be dead and the world would be a better place. Very Happy

I think this is something that should have been done 12 years ago. Saddam has killed over 100,000 people. So YES I support the war and all of our troops.
