I got a Digital Rebel for Christmas, but have been a little timid to take it out on these cold Chicago days. I also picked up a canon 70-200 f/4 L series the other day, so I am getting pretty antsy to get out and take some pictures. Any suggestions on what is the coldest temps I should shoot in? I did a search but could not come up with anything. Thanks guys.
From what he's said, he uses a Canon 1D Mark II in temps as low as -30F. Battery life is shortened dramatically when it's that cold but that is the only issue he has (besides his hands getting REALLY cold).
The biggest thing you have to worry about is taking the camera from a warm room into the cold night, which will cause condensation on the lens and possible the camera sensor.
