I know it used to be a problem on the MC X-Stars cause their towers were so stiff the only thing left to give was the gelcoat. I've seen this on at least 8 early model x-stars.

As to a few other comments. I would also agree not to let my buddies do pull ups or jump from the tower. And as for people sitting up there you got to be crazy! Just my opinions though.

Hey Bill call me asap on that issue with CC, and for spyder cracks all you guys better be drilling the hole first and than run a chamfer this should stop the gel coat from spyder cracks, sometimes the installers get lazy and just drills. Small tiny spyder cracks may look like s**t but it does not jeopardize the hulls strength at all.

....I just talked to a Malibu dealer yesterday and we got to talking about towers vs. pylons and he expressed serious concern about the longevity and overall stress that a tower creates on even the newest malibu factory designs. Now, I wouldn't normally take this at much value, but this guy sells $48K Malibus daily and actually recommended a pylon over a tower, if I were to order a boat from him.

I just thought that was interesting. Personally, I've never seen a tower do damage.

I have a custom made tower from the local welder dude I have see the pics. After almost two full seasons we have some very faint spider cracks about 1/2 to 1 inch long on one of the mounts. I don't think it's a big deal.

...just my opinion, but if I had 1" spider cracks in my gel coat after only 2 seasons I would be a little concerned. Those cracks are only going to get worse. 2 seasons of wakeboarding shouldn't crack your gelcoat.
