get an instructional video and watch it a couple times. only watch as far as you need, maybe a little farther. then before you go out, watch it one last time. try to block out the people on the boat shouting at you. only focus on what the video said.
Higher Learning is a good video to learn from. Hope this helps!

\liquid*force*babe,
Knees Bent, Arms Straight, Relax, Stand up. Practice on land. Lay down on your back with your knees bent and feet on the ground. Have a friend grab your hands and pull you up...you don't pull up, have them pull you up. Its just like that. It can be frustrating, I understand I've taught plenty of people (the least successful being my girlfriend). Once you're up, put the handle at your lead hip/waist. I ride left foot forward so I keep the rope at my left hip. And let most of the force be on your forward arm, If you put too much on your back arm you will fall. Eventually you want to let go with your rear hand, if you can right away great, if you can't work on it, but always have the majority of the force on your forward arm.

I hope this works (if it doesn't you're doing something wrong... Mr. Green J/k, good luck).

liquid*force*babe, I know a lot of times when people are starting out with a group they can get a hundred instructions thrown at them from everyone in the bunch ...and yes it can get frustrating for everyone for sure.

If you really want to get up and be able to ride with your friends, maybe you could consider taking an hour lesson at a local wakeboard school. I'm sure they'd get you up and probably teach you some basics once you're riding which will help you out.

Agree that too many teachers is annoying. When I teach I like to start by practicing for a few minutes on the dock to get the beginner used to being pulled up and their centre of gravity over the board. Then we go to waist deep water and I pull them around by hand while my driver (aka the wife) is warming up the boat. I get in my kayak and paddle alongside the rider when they try to get up. If they fall I can give them one or two tips. We have more success with this than we ever did with waterskiing.

Yeah try out of the water first, we sometimes have people sit in the road with their feet on the curb and pull them up with a rope. That gives you a good feeling of what it should be like.
