has anyone had any experience rebuilding the motor or buying new parts like carborators. im looking at a boat with a 454 and its kinda sketchy, the motor that is teh boats in perfect condition, im just trying to price out what it would be to buy a new one or mybe rebuild.Also has anyone done any work themselves on one, and how easiy was it to work on?

THAT MOTOR IS EASY TO WORK ON AND PARTS ARE EASY TO FIND AS WELL AS INEXPENSIVE.

Parts are common for that engine in automobiles - but watercraft may be different. Do not use automotive parts on a marinized engine - it's illegal in many areas. Not all parts are specific to marine, but the carb, starter, etc. are all marine specific. Try and get a PCM repair manual for the 454 from www.skidim.com or similar place so you'll know what you're in for.

I was reading about some having heating problems in an older post, anyone know about these, or anything about how much gas it eats up a day
