***Unimportant part, may be skipped***
Hi, I'm new to these forums as you can tell. I'm also quite new to wakeboarding.
My parents own a place down in Poole (UK) and we have also got a boat down there. For those of you that don't know there is a "boat show" held in several places each year here in the uk. While there we purchased a wakeboard and bindings. I got a O'Brien Custom 142 (2004) and Liquid Force Evo bindings, as well as a bag.
I have only done about two hours of boarding in total, so the purchase may seem a bit extreme. However I am already confident, and moving in and out of the wake comfortably.
I don't live down in Poole so I'm unable to wakeboard as often as I'd like. The next stage for me is to start jumping, and this is the main point to my thread:
***Important bit***
We purchased the tow rope in a bit of a rush, choosing the cheapest option. It is really for waterskiing and is very "soft." So it just goes limp after any tension i manage to build up is released, unlike a "hard" line that "pops." If i want to start jumping is it advisable for me to get a hard line, or am i OK on the current 1? |

I would really look at a non-stretch rope, it's do-able with a ski rope but why when the non stretch are getting more affordable every day, not to mention they work way better, check out an online retailer or hit your local shop _________________ TEAM PIRATE, AAAARRRGGGHHH YOU READY?

definately get a non-stretch rope. This is one of the most important parts of your wakeboarding setup. More important than your bindings or your wakeboard IMO.

It won't hamper you in the beginning but a non-stretch line does make a difference on the water.

You can learn on a ski rope...but if you want to really excel I would get a non stretch rope. One fact though...once you start using a non-stretch rope, you can't go back. it is just too different.

A stretch rope can "bungee" and spring back if you fall hard, we have personally had it happen where it hit people in the observer seat, 1 time leaving a pretty big bruise on a girls back, the other time barely missing a guys head. I've seen other people on here comment to the same thing. So get a non or low stretch rope, as soon as you hit your mom or dad in the back of the head with the handle you'll wish you had.
