| Don't you think that buiding a skyscraper 1,776 feet tall would be a mistake for the US? No one will want to work there and it causes an even bigger target for American morale if it is attacked. Seems like we are just putting too much on the line and making ourselves a target again. |

So we should run and hide? Do you really think its going to be as more of a target? _________________ The answer is D - All of the above. |

I was just kidding around. But you have to admit it would have a severe psychological effect on those potential office leasees..........would you not agree?
I agree that you shouldnt run and hide, but I'm just thinking about general human nature. |

| Hmmm, maybe. What if the planners have addressed security as much as possible? I think terrorists have made their point. Why attack it again. Why not try something new to strike fear, perhaps at a large sporting event. Think of that impact. I am mixed on building a new tower. Yes people will be nervous. I doubt they could even get adequate insurance on that building, so they would not be able to get a loan, which means no building. But I hope they do build a tower just to piss off the terrorists that they may have won a battle, but they will not win the war. |

| Anyhow, I agree that we should build something to piss them off, but we shouldn't build something that sticks one and a half thousand feet in the air. I don't know if we should put buisnesses in the building, though, 'cause first, you brought up good points about leases and such, and second, it doesn't really seem that respectful to the people who died there. If it becomes a place for buisness, then in a hundred years, people probably won't even remember what happened there, but just go there to look at the gardens, see the view, and eat a corndog. |

I can understand how some people would think it is disrespectful, but personally I think we need to put something there at least as impressive as what was there. If we stopped building skyscrapers, it's like they won. Building something like that again proves that we are still strong and unafraid. I'd work there...

Nobody says we are going to stop building skyscrapers. And I think that the fact that we are going to roll over Iraq in 48 hours will speak louder than resurecting a building will. We just want to rebuild to make ourselves feel better. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

If they do build a new building, do you not think they will design it to withstand an impact and the burning fuel from a modern airliner, just like the old towers where designed to withstand an impact from an aircraft of the era when they where built. Also people would go to work in them to show they where not intimidated by terroists. _________________ Jess

Yeah, but we never built buildings to be knocked down. If a terrorist is really set on taking down a building, they will find a way.
However, squishing Saddam doesn't prove anything to Osama, 'cause we were never able to find him.
Not that I support those dudes, I'm just saying they're crazy, but not that stupid. |

I do not think it is the "Ultimate symbol of America"... I put that more on the statue of Liberty. Also they are leaving the "foot prints" of the original building there in tact as a reminder. I think it's a good idea to show them we will not back down or quit. I like the design. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. I dig the new building and I wanted them to rebuild from Day 1. I had dinner at Windows on the World once (the restraunt on top of the Trade Center) and it was phenomanal. Flat out incredible view. You could see right down the tip of Manhattan, all the water...such a powerful sight.
Most of us in the States, could care less about New York, especially us in the South. Mostly because we don't think NY deserves all the attention it gets, y'all talk funny and aren't smart enough to move to a place where the sun shines and the concrete is surrounded by woods, not the other way around. And the Yankees. When you step back and realize there are only about 15 big time cities in the world, NY is pretty pimp.
Do you realize how hard it will be to get into that building as a tourist once it is built? Not because of security concerns, but because of demand. We got reservations at Windows on the World THAT DAY. I bet the new restraunt is booked for a year or two by all the big players before us common folk even get to step foot in there!
Also would not surprise me if there are not moblie anti-aircraft batteries in the largest US cities as we speak. |

i think it should be rebuilt and even if it is a skyscraper, maybe it shouldn't be too big cos that'd be a little too tryhard, sure it'd be sticking to em, but i see it as being like too much of a 'we win you lose' situation. osama didn't wanna knock down buildings, he wanted civilian casualties, and as much as i hate to say it and it hurts, he suceeded. (crazy arab) but yeh, some super cool should be built there, and whatever it is it will be one hell of a tourist attraction, haha they should stick a rollercoaster in there. j/k

you can see the neew designs at cnn.com, that is where I saw it. They have all the proposals and the ones that made it into the finals as well. It's no longer on the main page though, so you will have to search in the web site to find it. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. The original towers where designed to withstand an impact from an aircraft, but they where not designed for taking the incrdible heat from the burning jet fuel. Any one ever been on that roller coaster in Las Vegas ? _________________ Jess

| what the hell was that on top of the last one? it looked like a mosque or whatever they call those places were islamic people go to church. if they built that they would think we were honoring allah, the same dude that they think told them to fly airplanes into the buildings in the first place. |

There would be a lot of vacancy in a building that tall. I wouldn't want to plan my day around riding in an elevator for 45 minutes to and from work. _________________
