What up, names ryan, just recently started wakeboarding, not tryin to be the next wakeboarding pro...just doing it for fun...ive only been out about 5 times(we go on the weekends.), but so far, i got the basic's down...i can ride switch, im decent at doing a "butterslide", i can pop off the wake a lil(its like a prematur jump...but its air biotches.)
i read up on the "Progressive Heel Etc" that gives you more "air"....into a extent i kinda get what it means, cuz i was kinda doing what it says, but at the same time i wasnt...
im wondering does my size have anything to do with ish...
we got a cheap Hydroslide board...dont know the exact model, but its about 140, 138...not sure...
couple other quick questions...
to get air do i gotta being goin really fast...we are normally riding about 10 to 15...my older brother says we should be able to get air without alot of speed...i feel i need more speed to do it...
we are being pulled by a jetski, 1200 yamaha something...dont know the exact name. no tower on it
just wondering whats a good speed to be riding at...when approachin the wake for decent air.
i stand bout 6'0...225lbs...im fat...lol naw but really wanted to know, will the weight stop someone from gettin a certain height...have you known any bigger dudes, to get alotta air...prolly a dumb question, but Bubb Rubb it, imma ask... _________________

Welcome Ryan.
Honestly, it's hard to get good air behind a jetski. It's difficult for even experienced riders. You'll probably be better off working on surface tricks and ollieing. But if you want to work on getting air on such a small wake, you'll want to really focus on the progressive edge, and you should be going more like 18 mph. _________________ Pat McCarthy |

Yeah get a boat dude, and yourolder brothers right, getting air from the wake is nothing to do with speed, its the progressive edge which enables yourline to be at full load when you hit the top of the wake |

| maybe you should try out wakeskating. It is easier than wakeboarding behind a jetski becuase most tricks are from ollieing. Going faster might help you get more air, but like Pat said, it's hard to get good air behind a jetski. |

At 10-15 mph the board is just barely plaining. This is probably very tiring, I'd definantly bump up your speed to around 18. then after you get the basics down start riding at 20-22 mph. There are some big guys who go huge, the only way your weight is going to be an isssue is if you are out of shape and tire easily. The jetski can be great for learning basics, and ollie stuff, but you should try to get out behind a boat when ever possible. Don't be too concerned about towers either, they just allow for extra hang time. People can throw 5's and inverts with out em.

| yeah, its not your weight (im about the same) its just a jetski doesnt throw out bug ramps (wakes) like a wakeboard boat will. Plus you will need to speed up to 18 to 22 mph. |

Hey I'm about 6' 2" 185 and ya dude u need to be going a little faster just to ride. I'll start sinking if the speed dips below 15-18 so I recomend like 20mph.
Now a question of my own, (sorry this will sound stupid) but I'll shot it anyways.. whats a progressive edge???

Progressive Edge: The proper technique to be used when edging. A progressive edge is when the rider build their edge as they approach the wake so that their hardest edge is right when they hit the wake. |

I weigh 145 and am 5'9" I sink at about 12-15 mph, I've got the same board as you and it is really tiring to go that slow, I mean I'm in great shape and han't stand it.
Literally
Sorry bad joke.
