|
|
I'm a member of MBO and was going through the forums and caught some info on group buys set up by members there. Dunno if this topic has been brought up here, I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Anyways, I'm looking into getting PerfectPass this Winter/Spring and have read lots of posts of people saying the same, and thought maybe if we got a large enough group of people that maybe PP could cut us a deal.
So... is there anyone out there that has a connection with a dealer that could set this up? I don't really have any connections, but thought maybe someone else would be interested. It's really a win-win-win for the customer, the dealer, and the PP company, so I'd think we might be able to get something going.
If you think this won't work or if you have experience with this let's hear your .02 cuz I just wanna get an idea of how this might work out.
Also, I'm gonna get in contact with PP and see what they think and if we could go directly through them. I'll post back with what I hear.
***********************************************************
UPDATE I have it worked out. Go to the second page for details.

Dschock, i have a hook up through Skiers Choice(Supra Moomba Dealer) you calculate up how many people want to get the PP cause i want one too, and i will call them up and see what kinda of deals they can do for a group buy. PM with the # of people.

For the sake of getting a number that CaM2816 can discuss with Skiers Choice, count me in too.

| Nice to know there's some people out there that are interested. Let's keep this thing going, and get an initial number so Cam can work out something with Skiers Choice, or possibly I could get something going directly from PP. If you know anyone that might be interested, let them know and have them pm me or put a post on here, so we can get this thing rolling. The more people, the better deal we'll get, so spread the word. |

Ditto on what jwat142, said. That said, I'm going to be at least a month and a half before I have the cash. I'm using only OT money for my boat projects this winter. _________________

Group buys were successfully undertaken last year via the planetnautique website for HeaterCraft heaters and, I recall, P/Pass.
It's usually a dealer who will cut you the slack not PP. They have strict price controls and ban dealers from publishing discounted prices. The dealers still discount privately. You may need to find a friendly dealer and keep him incognito to protect him.
Suggest you contact nautiquejeff on planetnautique for some guidance - I believe he masterminded it. _________________ Jeff |

| Just as a heads up, if you are a member of www.planetnautique.com, you can get 15% off anything from Mid Ohio Nautique's. I was quoted $942.65 including shipping for Wakeboard Pro from them, so the price would have to be cheaper than that for me to be in this group buy. That also gives you an idea of at least how much a dealer can take off and still make some money. |

Yep, was Mid-Ohio who supplied my heater via a group buy. They also have a MasterCraft dealership so you are not limited to Nautique versions (only affects the instruments).
The saving on the heater thro' the bulk buy was a lot more than 15%. If they give you that for a single purchase, it's gotta be more for several. The more you commit to buy, the cheaper they get.
Securing solid commitments you can rely on is always the tough part of any group buy. It's unfair on the dealer to make a promise you can't subsequently deliver on. _________________ Jeff |

MrBlean is right. PP won't deal with the group deal thing if you're just Joe Schmo off the street. At least that's what they told me when I was looking into this a couple years ago. You need to have the backing of a dealer or maybe a website business, but you'll probably have better luck just going through a dealer and let them deal with PP. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

00wakesetter, I believe how it has worked for other group buys is that you would work with the company directly for payment.
MrBlean, oshensurfer, You're right. A rep from PerfectPass just responded and they will not do a group discount. But they did give me some ideas of who has in the past.
Keep the interest coming, later this week I will try to get some pricing estimates from some companies using an estimate of numbers. Oh, and btw, don't worry, there are more people than this, I have this same thread running at Tigeowners.com and have recieved interest from there. Also, some people have PMed me directly. Later this week I will put up a list of who I have from this site to see if I've missed anybody.

00wakesetter, I really have no idea yet on the pricing. We are, however, only going to do it if we can beat $950 (wakeboardPro), as requested above. I will have a better idea later this week.
I'm also trying to get in contact with other people who have set these up so I can get an idea of what kind of price they got and how large of a group. |

I can get items from Skiers Choice for the cost that a boat business would get it for, which is probably whole sale i would imagine. In order for me to call Skiers Choice and start talking numbers i wouild need a rough estimate of people interested in buying PP. What we need to do is the people that have connections to get a good deal on PP, should post on here what kind of deals we can each get and take the best offer and work from there.
If anyone needs to email me about this my email is Snowsurfr1521@aol.com |

| You can get it for non advertised price of $925 w/o knowing anyone. That's what i got mine for. Taht's would be a good starting point unless someone knows of a cheaper place. |

check your PM. It is the WP latest version 6.4. From what I here PP is very strict about how dealers advertise price _________________ LED Concepts |

Devin,
I called Skiers Choice today and the guy i run through is out of town until tomarrow. 15+ people is the magic number i wanted to hear. If for some reason skiers choice doesnt meet the price that you said people want it for i have another connection at Salem Watersports in Oregon. I dont see why they would have a problem with shipping considering they ship around the country on a daily basis. I have been calling around and just seeing how much PP retails for and it is roughly around 1100-1300. Since i have a business license and know a guy at Skiers choice im pretty sure i can get a good chunk of that knocked off, probably the whole sale price. Im hoping to get it for around $700-$850 but dont take my word for it yet. Now i know that some people on the forum dont have the money yet that want in on the group buy. What should we do about that? |

| Well guys im pretty pissed off and disapointed right now, i just got off the phone with my so call "hook up" at skiers choice and its not looking good at all. For some reason i cant get the price that i expected. Dschock made a good point telling me that if we were to go through skiers choice it would be to hard for the shipping purposes because i would have to have the PP sent to me because i have the business license. I think someone has has a better chance of getting a better deal then me. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT KIND OF PRICES ANYONE ELSE CAN GET I NEED A PERFECT PASS SYSTEM. sorry for letting the crew down guys. |

Don't worry, there's still hope. NautiqueJeff had coordinated a PP group buy over at PlanetNautique.com and he is talking to his source for me. Also, I am still working with a couple online dealers, which would be extremely easy to work with for payment and shipment options. I don't wanna say their names yet, as that information and the price will most likely be communicated through e-mail so as to not get them in trouble with PP. PP doesn't like it when companies advertise lower prices.
On another note, if you all could e-mail me your username from here and type of PP desired (plus, wb, etc) it will make it much easier to let everyone know about the pricing when I find out. My e-mail for this is:
ppgroupbuy@yahoo.com
If I don't hear from you I'll check back with you on here and try to sort things out that way. |
