I'm getting my hands on a digital Rebel and need recommendations on memory cards, batteries, and places to buy these accessories.
Here are some of the items I'm looking to pick up:
Canon BG-E1 Battery Grip
Memory Card - Is there a difference between models? I found a 1 gig Flash Card at Fry's for $70... |

The Rebel doesn't need a particularly fast CF card although it's probably worth investing in them as newer models benefit from faster cards. Unfortunately Fry's isn't really a bargain center unless they're having a sale. I like Sandisk Ultra II 1 gig cards from buy.com usually less than a hundred. The card you're looking at at Frys is probably less than $50 online. The grip I'd look for on ebay- usually a lot of used ones there. _________________ Rich Dykmans |

Check the online stores for rebates and such. If the dif between a 1 gig and 2 gig is only $60-70 I'd go with the 2 gig card. I have run out of memory on my 1 gig without having a back up.

I haven't checked CF cards lately since I have enough but I think I saw someone selling the Ultra II 2 gig's for about $160, so you're right the prices have been going down. _________________ Rich Dykmans |

Thanks! Great info!
What do you think about the Lexar 2GB 80x CompactFlash Card with Write Acceleration 169.95 (after rebate)
Also, I heard that transferring the pictures directly from the camera takes a loooong time. Is there a card reader you guys would recommend? |

That's a good card too! I've got both a Lexar and Sandisk CF card reader with firewire interface. The lexar just came out and is cheaper/nicer. Fastest transfer I've found. _________________ Rich Dykmans |
