So this is a copy of a post on one of my threads. I'm fine tuning my forum habits, I suppose. The question I put to you is: I posted a vest for sale MSRP $140 sale for $50. Trucker T finds the same model vest wrong size wrong color on closeout for $30 and posts it in my thread. The question: Am I wrong in PMing Trucker T and asking her not to do this again?

Quote:
Please don't do that, respect the seller's price. The link you posted doesn't even have the right size or color and it's only a $20 difference. I didn't post anything like "smokin deal" or "beat anyone's price". It's decently priced so please do not do this again. Thank you.

Can you believe this guy PM'ed me this. This forum is all about sharing info. dude, and if I can save a sister $20 ... I will. Maybe you should have sought my advice before you paid too much for a jacket you are not going to get any use for. I can tell you right now those vests run way small. It's obvious that no one is interested. Are you really that unresourceful that you can find no other place to post this (i.e. Craig's List; other watersports forums; your local newspaper; a bulletin board)! I posted a nearly identical vest ($20 cheaper by the way) for sale a while back and after a week, it was pretty clear that it was not going to sell on this site, so instead of jumping through hoops to make my money back (or annoying the hell out of everyone) I just cut my losses and gave it away. For the love of god will you go away with your vest now.

I am torn on this issue. I would hate it if I were trying to sell something and someone else posted a link to the exact same thing cheaper but I would hate to see someone get ripped off on a price at the same time.

Also if you posted it in the Ladies Lounge I think she was right. That group is really close and I would expect them to warn other girls about a high price. Now if it were in the classifieds I don't think it's as clear cut. I have been tempted to post links in the past but have always restrained myself.

To be honest bcxpress6294, the prices on all of the equipment you have for sale is outrageous. You're asking like $200 for '01 equipment. At the end of the year you can get brand new '04 stuff for $200. You need to be more realistic with your prices.

The prices on some of my posts are set by my manager, and there's nothing I can do about them. On the older boards I did post that offers would be considered. But that's off topic: On the vest, it would be one thing if she found the exact same item in the same size, but it wasn't. I've looked and it's difficult to find this same item for much cheaper than I have it for. Anyway, your advice is appreciated Wakebrad.

bcxpress6294,

I agree with you on that instance seeing as that is not really a bad price. If Trucker T had come up with the same IDENTICAL item for 20 bucks less it would be a different story.

Wakebrad,

I agree with you on the prices. Obviously if tou post something that is too high you are going to get flamed. If some noob actually buys it on this board and then sombody tells him he got ripped by YOU, well we are a tight knit board so you can see where I'm going. Also classifieds should be kept in that forum PERIOD. That is what its' there for.

One last thing, how is this a newbie question Question

just my .02,
Good luck to you Cool

joedirt00, In the title,
Newbie Questions
New to wakeboarding or these forums? This is the place to get help on beginner wakeboarding and forum usage questions.

So it's more of a "forum usage question" than a "beginner wakeboarding" question. I had a question so I read the titles to see where it would be most appropriate.

Maybe you should have just replied in your thread about the diff in the size/color.

Definetly should keep classifieds in the classified section.

I think that respecting the sellers price is important. If someone doesn't like the price they are asking then don't reply. If I want to sell my 4 year old board for $600 than thats my perogative. Granted no one will buy it but its my decision. There is always something cheaper to be found, always. If you can get it cheaper somewhere else than do it. But you shouldn't have an effect on someone elses sale.

Definitely respect the sellers price. If you are close to people then PM them and let them know. If someone thinks they are o.k with that price allow the seller the opportunity to reach those people. No one should try and disprove a price, just click out and don't buy it.

Trucker T was dead wrong to post on your thread. It's simple courtesy to let the seller run his own deal, the price is up to the seller and buyer and none of Trucker T's business unless she wants to buy it. If she don't like the price she needs to move on. I wonder how she would feel if one of her sales or one of her "sisters" sales was dissed like that.

All the facts: bcx posted his add in the Ladies Lounge two months ago and I was totally cool with that even though it wasn’t the Classified forum. Way to push your merchandise dude because I rarely go to the Classified forum. But then he continually brought his thread back up to the top by posting:

Quote:
TTT

It was annoying. So on like his 9th post it became apparent that he may need an education as to why his jacket was not selling, so I simply posted:

Quote:
Or you can get one here for $25:

Sorry bcx, it's just not that great of a deal. Unless you really like purple.

It wasn’t even that critical, and I even implied that it may be worth the price if someone really likes purple. His original post just read “Woman’s O’Neil Vest for Sale”, so gals that would not fit his vest or gals that hate purple would have to read his add to determine that. My link presented a different color jacket (a lovely blue), and several sizes to choose from. I would think bcx would become more enlightened by my post than anything, but he lashed out with a PM telling me what I should not be doing.

And that whole rule (which I just discovered when I poked around the Classified forum yesterday) about not piping up if someone is trying to rape another person on overpriced wakeboard stuff is ridiculous anyway. People come on this site daily for advice on what they should be spending. Shame on you if you just sit back and watch someone pay too much. Slacker!

And if you really want to know your market bcx, so you can become better at what it is that you do…sell unique stuff for more. Like this vest:

I’d pay a lot more for that.

well it was in the ladys lounge so I don't blame Trucker T, for her post. It is what I would do if I were an LLer.

In the classifieds if she had posted that I would say she would be in the wrong.

I agree with Wakebrad. And I also think you are an excellent communicator Wakebrad. I think you were right on re: the "people who don't like you" thred. And I was just kidding about the gay remark. Decent come back though. Maybe we can have a rap war sometime for $hits and giggles.

Thanks guys (and gals), it's obvious my stuff didn't belong in the LL. Trucker T, calm down I didn't lash out at you, I thought a PM would be more appropriate and less antagonistic.
