I have had a fairly good look around but can't seem to find anything that really helps. What are the general guidlines for the various physical attributes of a board? i.e. 3 stage rocker, molded fins etc... what effect do they have on the ride?
I would like to be able to take a look at a board and kinda understand that this one's gonna be loose or look out for the landing on this one etc... _________________ I may not board good... but man can I fall! |

That is tough because until you have ridden a bunch of different boards and actually experienced the difference, its hard to explain. As far as tight or loose, the molded in fins really have little to do with that. I rode a Helix which has some of the biggest, longest molded fins ever and that board was really loose because it had a really rounded tip and tail. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

Perfect! Thanks for the link. It is a little difficult here in South Africa as you can't just walk down to your local dealer and try out some demos. It's quite a struggle to get hold of decent boards. _________________ I may not board good... but man can I fall! |

I can't demo boards either, I don't have a shop near me so I have to mail order everything. Luckly I have been riding for 8 years and have ridden about 30 different boards so I have a pretty good idea of how a board will ride. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

I would have to disagree, I think a continuous rocker is more agressive. They cut faster and ride faster. The only real benefit to a 3 stage is the pop. A 3 stage will give a better boot up but only if you hit it right. With a cont. rocker you get the same consistent pop everytime plus you can carry more speed into the wake. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

It turns out that the best advise for me is a fast continuous rocker because our wake is real small. I have bought a older hyperlite fluid 137 with hyperlite bindings and I have had a lot of fun over the last few days! _________________ I may not board good... but man can I fall! |

ITs hard too..in singapore..well we do have a wakeboard following here and we just hold the world wakeboard championship...but the problem here is that we do not have any major shops...we only depend on boards that the shop just happen to bring from abroad..we dont have much a choice or given a guide/knowledge on wake boarding...so we depend on espn for showing wake boards or when one of us got a video s....well so helps is needed here... |
