Your legs are absorbing the pop. You need to keep them stiff (stand tall) and let the board and wake launch you into the air, then if you want, pull your legs/feet up for a grab or other trick.
See attached picture of Wakebrad showing how this is done. |

put some weight in the boat man.... the wake plays a good part in getting more height.... but like 89 skier said the legs are the key _________________ Wake Forest University |

hey it's me!
anyways.. 2 things I see (both have been mentioned). Your wake is pretty small so there's only going to be so high that you can go (don't worry you can do a lot of tricks with a small wake. I landed my first handle pass 360 behind a jetski). Get some fat sacs in there and see if you can get a bigger wake. Judging by the wake it looks like an I/O. I would put the trim up about 1/4 and add some weight to the front of the boat.
89 skier's right though. You're not completely extending off the wake. Really focus on timing your extension so that your knees are bent a lot at the bottom of the wake and they are fully extended as you come off the top. |

Wakebrad, nice wake (im assuming by the wake that its a SAN) but in that pic u really gotta balance the weight!
wakeagu, I couldnt see the video, but I have a 20 ft I/O and no weight. You can still get a good wake If you trim it about 1/2 way up, it will be really rough inside the wake but it should firm up and get steeper and peaky. That works for my boat and my friends (23 ft I/O) so u should try it. Lets see If I can attach a pic of my wake on here.
This is my 1988 Four Winns 200 Horizon with about 5 people in it and trim at about 1/2. |

| How fast are you going? I see a lot of beginners on our lake getting pulled way to fast. Keep it around 21mph or so until you get the feel of the pop. Going slower will also increase your wake size. HTH. |

your cut actually looked pretty good right up untill you hit the wake. You began to stiffen your legs a bit, but then right as you were about to pop off the wake you softened them up, and didn't get as much air as you should have. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

It's not fair! The snow is falling, the car's windshield need to be scraped off. The snowplows are blocking traffic and spreading salt allover. I will not be riding until the end of May!
Could be a factor in my progress being slow!

smlparksguy133, That wake is not behind a SAN...It's most likely behind his Sport Nautique...And the weight is balanced...you know as well as anyone when you cut out, the opposing wake looks bad...same as when you cut back in.

| you could use a bigger wake... and you need to learn how to make a progressive cut.... in that video your just cutting out and making a hard cut in and what helps me is not absorbing the wake with your knees and keeping the rope a little closer to my chest and also standing tall and letting the board do its work... thats why boards are shaped the way they are, but there are alot of personal preferences that help everyone differently. it all depends on your style, rope length , and speed and what kind of boat you have... i ride at 25.5 mph at 75 feet rope and behind fully loaded wakesetters and super airs. |

Telemarking is using downhill shape ski's with bindings where the heel is free like cross country ski's except for the fact it takes mad skill to go down a hill using the proper telemarking technique.
This is big in back country riding. You can put skins on the ski's for climbing the hill then remove the skins and descend with style... They are NOT twin tip freestyle or skinny cross country ski's... _________________ PEACE

Your not holding a progressive edge.... you cut in and flatten out at the wake, I think thats the problem even more so then absorbing the wake. _________________ Yes on Fat Tax |
