|
|
I'm going to be shooting a time lapse sequence of a wide shot with clouds in the sky and people moving in and out of the shot. My camera has the following record times and intervals:
Record times: 1/2 sec, 1sec, 1.5sec, 2sec
Intervals: 30sec, 1 min, 5 min, 10min
any suggestions on a good combination of times & intervals for time lapse shots? _________________ 1989 Supra Comp TS6M, 06 GLI for haulin'.

You will only see cloud changes at 5 and 10 min intervals. It you want people moving in and out I'd go with 30 sec int. and 2 sec record. _________________ www.wakeboardindiana.com |

it depends on how windy the day is too - if it is really windy you can have a smaller interval, but if it is hardly windy at all you will need to have a larger interval.
I just got done doing a timelapse of the conditions, although mine was an everyday thing - so it was taken the same day. the way I did it was to take pictures looking at the same spot and putting them together into a video file...That might work better for you because then you can tell the camera when you want to take the shot. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

I've even taken cloud time lapses on 30sec when its a windy day and they turn out alright.
It really wouldnt matter which one you use. Each one would give a different effect that you may or may not like as much. _________________

I tried the 2 sec recording @ 30 sec intervals, but the recording wasn't long enough to get the people. People would pop into view, then disappear like ghosts. Seems like to get good time lapses, you need to just let the camera roll constantly for hours on end, then speed up the clip like 400% or more. I'll keep trying though. _________________ 1989 Supra Comp TS6M, 06 GLI for haulin'.

| I was going to suggest just that - shooting in normal mode for an hour or 90 minutes and then just increasing the speed of the clip even to 1000%. |
