|
|
I am new to wakeskating and I am looking for a good starter board but at the same time I dont want something that I will out preform soon after getting up. I have a few quick questions for all you guys out there who really know whats going on because you have actually rode most of the boards before... Well I will be the first one in my crew to try wakeskating and no one I know has ever tried it before. My first question is this, 1 I have done a lot of reading on this site and some others about board size. ( I am thinking about a 111 or a 112 I am 5-10 and 155.) What kind of board should I be looking into? I dont want to buy a board that will cost me a ton but I want a nice one. 2 should I look for a board that works well with shoes or not? thanks for the help guys!!!!

Alright, I'll try to help you out.
First off, your probably going to want a flat deck over a concave deck, they tend to be alot cheaper, and you can progress on them and learn on them.
Next, any brand would be good, I know that Casette and Liquid Force have good flat decks for good prices and for a more advanced board, I've heard great things about Integrity and Casette Concaves.
For Size, I'd look into a 112-116 or a 41'-44', a larger sized board will be easier to learn on and anyone will be able to ride it and it won't just fit smaller sizes.
Shoes or Not? I say get a foam board over grip. With grip, prettymuch you need to wear shoes, while foam, you can or cannot where shoes and be fine with it. It will give everyone a chance to ride the board, and it will be more suiting to begin on, and still good to progress on.
Check any online website (www.boardstop.com as advertised on this site, is a good site) and most skates you can find from $70-$120, or you can get on eBay and get a great deal on a skate from around $50-$70.
Hope this helps, It's all the change I've got on the subject.

I Ride a Kampus K39 and a LF Wud Flat. I mainly ride the K39, I got It off of eBay, they have great deals on them for like $50. I just like to have fun and mess around, not get very serious about it, but If I wanted to be serious and actually try to go somewhere with the sport, I would definitely get an Integrity.

Well I am going to look into them and see if they have anything that I just feel like I can't live without ( in board stuff thats everything). I will go that way more than likely just because of the great feedbback you guys left me... They seem like a good board.

The wood on those cassettes won't last any where near as long, probably only one season, so it' not really saving you money

Is there anyway to make the wood on the decks last any longer?

reseal it often. I've had my 4-track sense jan. and already re-sealed.
But, my 01 flat deck is still holding up strong, and I have not done a thing to it. I think cassetes older decks actually held up better

that is probably because they were trying to proove that their wakeskating company was one of the best. now that they are a big company, they dont have to make as good of quality boards. just my opinion

i rode my brothers integrity last weekend and it was a sick board. i don't know how well it would treat a beginner, but even though i'm not a fan of grip tape, i still liked it.

Whats the difference between grip tape and no tape. Besides the fact of the added grip.

MOwake, if you dont have grip tape you will have a foam top. Some people just like the skateboard like feel of the grip tape i guess.

| MOwake, you will have to get foam then, you cant just use the wood on the board, then you dont need shoes

MOwake, If your getting a foam deck, I would say get a cassette.
Don't buy a hyperlite, liquid force, J-star... etc. Basically don't get a wakeskate from a wakeboard company. They don't care. And they are less quality products.
