It seems as though a lot of people have gone the digital route, but until I can afford $1500 I'll be shooting film.
For those with experience with different films, what do you recommend? I almost always use Fuji Supra-Xtra 400...as it is cheap and seems pretty good. I use a Canon Elan 7 body and Tamron 75-300 lens (hopefully upgrading to a Sigma 100-300 f/4 or Sigma "Bigma" 50-500 soon).
Please keep in mind money is important...so best quality for the price _________________ A successful person is a dreamer who someone believed in |

| Have you thought about buying used. You can get a 10D, Rebel, or D100 for really cheap if you look around. You will save money shooting digital. Just a thought. |

Yep, I don't know how many used 10D's and 1D's (not 1Ds) I've had on watch on eBay (many times having to resist the urge to place a bid ). Unfortunately, with school right now, I just can't afford it. So in the meantime, just wondering what experience people have had with different films....I'll definately be getting a dslr once I can afford it. _________________ A successful person is a dreamer who someone believed in |

How do you like your Canon body? I'm thinking about buying a used one. _________________ -Nick

NickCanCountTo13,
I love the Elan 7. It has a much more rugged feel to it than any of the rebel series bodies and the larger size is more comfortable in the hand. The Elan 7/7E are going real cheap on eBay, even with the vertical grip. If you don't mind going through film in a hurry, it is capable of around 4 fps continuous. To me, it is the perfect film camera...More capable than the rebels, but a lot cheaper than the Eos-1 and Eos-3 bodies. _________________ A successful person is a dreamer who someone believed in |

| Do you want to shoot slides or negatives? I prefer ISO 100 film for the finer grain, and usually 100 is adequate for shooting wakeboarding in bright sun. Most of the pros seem to prefer Fujichrome Velvia 100. |

I would use 100 or maybe 200 on a good sunny day. It wouldnt be as grainy as the 400 but would be slower, so you couldnt shoot as good in dark places. I'm using digicam A2 and 35mm until I can afford a 20D(i think) and I use 200 usually, cause walmart has it good and cheap. _________________
