OK, it's been long enough now that I can share my story and take the lashing. I was in a hurry, that’s my excuse!

I was all alone (with all my friends:-) in the front yard at the lake; I knew EVERONE ELSE was down at the dock. It's like 10 am. No fear of kids in harms way. I'm backing my boat trailer onto a "ledge" at the front of the yard, which was my first try and definitely not a trick I would have tried with the boat on the trailer.

The rear of the truck slides towards a tree, I think it hits.

I jump out and even though unobtainable evidence says I put the truck in park, there is a remote possibility I leave it in Drive as I jump out, leaving the door open.

Well this tree "jumped" into the picture and it has me between it and the truck coming rapidly at us with the door open. It was a “maybe lose a limb” or “watch your truck lose a door” decision. I chose self-preservation.

So here it is, my “Monster Brainfart” for 2004

MonsterTower, That is definitely a weekend ruiner. Things couldn't really have gotten worse than that (well with some exceptions). Good story though.

I have a good one. This happened to my dad back in the seventies when we had a really light boat. It was like a 69 Boston whaler 13ft. He was towing it down the interstate and forgot to strap down the front end good and the boat lifted up off the trailer and broke the rear straps and came up about 20 ft in the air and landed on the motor and cracked the head and then it bounced down the interstate going 60 mph and the only thing that happened to the hull was a crack in the top left corner. We still have the boat but it has a new motor. Obviously when they were at the river they were drinking.

MonsterTower--OUCH Shocked It's good that you've moved past it and can share it on this web site. I tend to dwell on things a little too long. There is no way I'd be sharing that online during the same year that it happened. I woudn't be over it yet.

So is there a positive ending note about insurance fixing everything up that you want to end the story on, or shouldn't I have asked?

Forgot the good part after all the dust has settled. First Allstate was no problems at all to work with. Called them right after it happened and asked if I needed a police report and since I was alone and no other vehichles involved they said no report needed. Took 4 weeks to get fixed, just under $6K Sad

I had gotten a 2000 Mercedes 430CLK Cabrio from one of my many old business endevours gone bad where a guy owed me mucho $$$ and long story short I ended up with his car about a month before the accident. Very sweet ride but it's just so not my type of vehicle. Traded that in on my new truck, my dream ride, the ultimate redneck Cadillac!

Here's my new ride - 04 Ram 3500 with the H/O Diesel !!! So after all is said and done if it had not happened I would still be driving the 1500 so all worked out well in the end. I added a 2" coil spring spacer to the front to level it out and 35's shown in the pic below. Since then tinted the windows and added the required company graphics Smile

The funny part was NOBODY was in the truck, which is why they did not hit the brakes as the tree was taking out the side and ripping off the door Smile

I did see a funny one this summer I just remembered. This guy was struggling bad trying to get his jet ski trailer down the ramp. Not sure if he just could not see it or did not know what he was doing until he unhooked the trailer and started walking it down the ramp. At that point I realized he was clueless and about then he realized he did not provide very good brakes in comparison to a car. He was smart enough to turn it real hard as he was entering the water trying to stop it.

Hey, those are interesting boat launch disaster posts, but how about a few pictures from the new calendar? I mean, any links following the words: "Were buttoning up the 05 calendar today and it should go to print this afternoon" should be followed by links containing beautifull women.

I caught this one about 2 miles down river from me. I actually had a season pass at this ramp last year.
