There is one positive if this happens. Decent middle eastern food.

But that isn't really worth it, is it?

Fortunately no one. But simply burying ones head in the sand will not make the problems of the world go away.

The actions of Islamic terrorist groups operating throughout the world are well known. Islamic terrorists have bombed and destroyed buildings, planes, and vehicles. Additionally, during the last 20 years, Muslim terrorists have targeted and murdered tens of thousands of males, females, adults, and children. All over the world, in Kenya, Algeria, Indonesia, Egypt, Iran, France, South America and America, etc., Muslim terrorists have attacked and murdered those they felt were a threat to their aims. No one has been spared by these treacherous people.

Not surprisingly, examination of the websites that deal with terrorism show that about one half of all terrorist groups in the world are Islamic in nature.

Here are some summaries of Islamic terrorism in America or against Americans

#1) Osama bin Laden, one of the Islamic world's leading terrorists was behind the bombing of the American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Twelve Americans were killed and there were hundreds of other deaths due to the bombings. Bin Laden has declared open season on American civilians, women and children included. He says Islamic scholars have allowed the targeting of civilians because their taxes support the American military, therefore, they too are at war with Bin Laden's Islamic goals.

Bin Laden was interviewed by a Muslim journalist, and the interview appears in the Jan 11, 1999 issue of Newsweek. Here are some excerpts:

QUESTION: "Why have you asked Muslims to target civilian Americans all over the world? Islam prohibits its followers from killing civilians in war?"

BIN LADEN: "If the Israelis are killing small children in Palestine and the Americans are killing the innocent people in Iraq, and if the majority of the American people support their dissolute president, this means the American people are fighting us and we have the right to target them.

QUESTION: "All Americans?"

BIN LADEN "Muslim scholars have issued a fatwa [a religious order] against any American who pays taxes to his government. He is our target, because he is helping the American war machine against the Muslim nation.

so its ok for america to kill people but not ok for the other people to kill america, mainly because it is..... america???

im not condoning terrorists in any way whatsoever, but you need to realise that america isn't being targeted for no reason. if america is targeting islamic terrorist groups and often killing their people, do you expect them not to be angry?

Nick- Everyone is ethnocentric. Of course Americans are going to take the loss of American life harder than the loss of an Islamic life. I feel as though the media has portrayed this in the wrong fashion and the world is not able to clearly see what the USA is trying to achieve.

How do you feel about the handfull of Aussies killed in Bali? Take that and multiply it then put it in your Financial Capital in one of the most populated areas of your country and think about it. The American people have been through a lot and are trying to maintain our way of life by eliminating threats that also happen to be a threat to your country.

So it's wrong for America and dozen's of other countries to try and rid the world of fanatic terrorists who kill and opress innocent civilians of all races and religions? These Islamic terrorists who target civilians, though it is expressly forbidden by their own religion? Do you mean the terrorists that fly planes into civilian buildings, strap bombs to themselves then detonating them in crowded malls while blowing up civilian night clubs? Or do you mean the terrorist that dropped chemicals on Iran and his own people. Chemicals that will have continue to kill for generations.

On the other side you have America, who has gone through great costs to ensure civilians aren't killed in conflict? America, the country that believes in freedom of speech, freedom of culture, freedom of religion? America, trying to convince other nations of the world to act before another 9/11 occurs somewhere?

Sounds like you are defending Terrorism, which is condoning it. And what are the terrorists reasons? Is it because the United States has troops in Saudi Arabia (With Saudi Approval of course)? Because we don't force women to cover and we allow people to listen to Rock & Roll? Because the United States supports Israel? Because we are not all Muslim? If these are valid reasons for terrorism, please get me off this planet.

Nobody wants war, I think everyone would be happy as a clam if all this just went away, but that isn't going to happen. The United States of America isn't perfect, but it definately isn't the enemy here.

Not only 9/11, but the attack on the USS Cole, and the bombing of the American Barracks in Suadi. We have been patient. I stated this a previous post. The agreement was for a cease fire under certain conditions. Iraq has failed to meet the conditions of the treaty and it is our responsiblity to enforce the agreement. America is not a country that is fond of appeasement. France is...

Todd: I agree with that.

90 sure as hell ain't a handful, considering Australias population (19.8 million) vs. the US's 290,473,473 people (http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/popclock)

Does everyone forget who bought Al Queda their weapons?

I agree that something has to be done about terrorism and I think that if the leaders of 2 of the worlds leading countries decide that war is the best way, so be it.

Just one thing though...if you're talking about innocent people being killed......America ain't too sharp with that either....August 6 1945 ring any bells? Sure it was a long time ago....but USA are far from angels let me tell you.

Crappy comparison Jeremy. April 16, 1946 -> the invasion of Japan by the U.S. and COMMUNIST Russian forces. Oh yea, that didn't happen. The U.S. isn't innocent from doing wrong but that's a horrid comparison. And Nick, maybe if the police quit targeting murderers they'd quit killing, right?

I knew someone was going to bring up Japan.

Remember Japan initiated sneak attack on the United States, while diplomats where meeting with the President under a veil of a Diplomatic resolution? Sounds sort of familiar.

I do agree though, dropping the bomb was a bad idea. But I think we have learned from that mistake, as well as others. Notice no nuclear weapons have been used in 57 years? And the next one to be used probably won't be from the United States.

Also 90 is much more than a handful. 3000 is extremely more than a handful. 1 is too much.

as far as japan goes the bomb was used to end the war and end it quickly from what i've learned.

as far as americans killing other innocent people... i'm not so ignorant that i don't think this has happened but i don't think that america has ever targeted innocent people. if i'm not mistaken back in desert storm innocent people where moved into area's that were deemed militarily important (moved by their own govt in hopes of the us backing off)things to overtake and therefore where killed in the process of the stratagy of war. i agree that war should be avoided whenever possible but as far as the current iraq situation goes i think it's necessary. if we would have pushed further during desert storm and finished it then we wouldn't have had to worry about it now.

just a couple thoughts about other random war type things... the u.s. will be criticized untill it isn't the world power. face it the u.s. is the top country politically right now. why are we involved in the middle east? because in WW1 britain promised palestien to more than one group of individuals and afterwards they couldn't deal with the problems tehy created so now we deal with it. (ever wondered why britian always backs us on pretty much anything?) in that area of the world little kids are taught to hate a specific race (jews/muslims). this has been going on for a long long time and will continue to go on until a cultural change takes place. so to close it up i support the u.s. meddling in middle east affairs and continue to despise the french in general. (sorry about the length)

You can't make a comparison between warfare and terrorism.

We were at war with a mobilized Japanese nation that was the aggressor of the conflict. A newly elected President was given an option that was touted as a war ending weapon. A weapon that would save thousands of lives on both sides. He decided to carry through and drop the Atomic Bomb. This did end the war. Even with the total destruction caused by both atomic bombs and the longterm fallout, more people were killed in a single fire-bombing of Tokyo. Not saying the A-Bomb is mild but it saved more lives in the long run.

I also didn't mean 90 people were a handful. But take those emotions and add the to them 3000 in Sept 11, and the previous bombing of the Trade Centers. Terrorist have gotten out of hand and it's time something must be done.

How many Americans know someone who was there that day? My friends mom missed her flight that morning and what do you know it ended up in the middle of the 2nd Tower. Another friends father was in a meeting at the Trade Center. I was lifting with my team that morning and when we saw the news flash on the gym TV's our world stopped. My friend went pale cause he knew his Dad was in that building. Luckily he got out. Maybe these things have brought this issue home. My mind is made up that this is a just cause and Americans will go at it alone if needed.

Aubs

I wish you had posted them instead of me !!

I didn't realise it would cause a full scale attack on Japan.

I'll just post nekkid women in the future, because then the guys can think with their other brain which seems to worry less about impending doom and more about inserting womb.
