I recently purchased a home and installed a garage. The city would not let build one big enough for car + boat. So I'd like to park it next to the garage. Is there any reason not to remove one set of wheels from each side to make the trailer more manuverable?

Other than being a PITA You would probably be OK as long as the weight of your boat wouldnm't exceed a similar model single. You might be better off gettin a front reciever for your tow rig and push it where you need to go. Wink

I think the single axles are much stronger that each axle on a tandem. You're going to remove each tire every time you put it away?? Why don't you just do what I do, leave the boat in the garage during the summer and park outside. Store the boat offsite during the winter and park your car in the garage. Much easier that way.

If you are pushing it around by hand, try lowering the tongue jack all the way down. This takes the weight off of the rear wheels and is much easier to push around. A second person might still be needed to push it depending on your situation. This is what I do when setting up for boat shows.

you're doing it backwards. The boat goes in the garage and the car gets parked outside

i'm with sperbet on this one. the car has gotta go. just tell the wife you dont have room for everything and the car has to be sold. then tell her your just joking...its gotta be parked outside. use that to soften the blow. or weigh this one out...which is worth more.

I use those shop dolly's that have 4 casters per dolly. Each dolly goes under one tire and I can push and pull my boat around in my garage no problem.

These are the same types of dollys they use on show cars so they can push them around the shop floor without needing the car running.

I use a couple of cable cranks I bought at lowes to pull it around. It takes about an extra 10 minutes to get it in or out, but I gain enough space to put in an extra car.

I can put it within an inch of where I want it to go.
