I am looking for some fairly simple software to create a slide show/video from my digital images...maybe add some music. What is the easiest software to do this with? Thx |

Quicktime pro is reallly easy to use to make a simple slideshow. Just select "Open image sequence..." and choose a folder filled with pictures. It'll ask you how long to show each picture, and make a slideshow. You can also add a soundtrack.
Once you're done, you can export it to mpeg, mpeg4, .mov or any other format quicktime supports (a real lot). |

| Quicktime pro is $30? I think? Something like that anyways. Check out www.apple.com to find out how much and to order if you want (yes there is a PC version too). To get it, you download Quicktime Player from the website, and then you can upgrade the player to pro by entering a serial. I'm sure you could find a "less expensive" serial if you look around. |

| It has a very good video encoder. Mpeg4 gives really small file sizes for a good quality video, and the other formats work well too. Just be careful using mpeg4 if you plan on posting on the internet because it's very new and not supported by all players yet. |

No, you can't encode VCD or DVD video with Quicktime pro. If you want to do that, there are other better programs.

Yep. Make a slideshow by doing what I explained above, then copy the video you want from the MOV and paste it into the slideshow (all in Quicktime Pro). |

| Actually, what I said wasn't entirely true. You can encode VCDs with quicktime if you install the right plugin (which you have to buy). But if that's what you want to do, you're still better off with another program. |

| Thanks for the info..I'll keep looking for a program that does allow me to encode VCD's or DVD's and watch on a regular TV. I have Nero and tried to make a VCD but it didn't play on my DVD player...does anyone know of a decent program to make slideshows/videos with that also encodes VCD's/DVS's? Thx |
